Job Summary

The RN Circulator is responsible for providing direct and indirect care to surgical and procedural patients throughout the perioperative continuum—from pre-operative admission and assessment, to intra-operative care, post-operative recovery, and discharge.

This role also supports scheduling processes, pre‑op chart reviews, and central processing functions. Care is delivered in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry standards, ensuring excellence in quality, infection control, and patient safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide perioperative patient care including pre-admit, scheduling, admission, intra‑op circulating, recovery, and discharge
  • Serve as a liaison between patients, families, providers, and departments to coordinate care
  • Accurately document assessments and care in the EMR in a timely manner
  • Ensure patient safety by identifying concerns and following OBH policies and procedures
  • Assist with surgical setup, room turnover, case preparation, instrument handling, and decontamination
  • Support department operations including supply management and equipment maintenance

Perioperative Responsibilities
  • Maintain knowledge of perioperative standards (AORN, ASPAN, SGNA, IAHCSMM)
  • Ensure proper patient identification, informed consent, and procedure verification
  • Safely administer medications and monitor patients appropriately
  • Utilize aseptic technique and proper specimen handling
  • Educate patients and families on post-operative care
  • Follow infection control and exposure control protocols
  • Navigate EMR for scheduling, documentation, and communication
  • Assist with quality reporting, chart reviews, and infection control initiatives
Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Current Washington State RN license
  • Perioperative experience preferred
  • CNOR certification preferred

Minimum Requirements:

  • BLS certification upon hire (must maintain)
  • ACLS certification within 6 months of hire (must maintain)

  • Excellent verbal, written, and computer communication skills
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to wear PPE for prolonged periods
  • Strong understanding of infection control practices
