Summit Pacific Medical Center is a vibrant expanding public hospital district that operates a Critical Access Hospital with a Level IV trauma designation, three rural healthcare clinics, and a seven‑day a week urgent care clinic.

Pay Range

$20.72 – $30.16 per hour.

Role Overview

The Nurse Technician is a nursing student employed by Summit Pacific Medical Center who is currently enrolled in good standing in a nursing program approved by the commission and has not graduated, or is a graduate of such a program within the last 30 days and has received determination from the secretary that there is good cause to continue the registration period.

Duties

and Responsibilities
  • Maintain employment requirements as a nursing technician.
  • Follow scope of practice per WACs and facility standards.
  • Work only under the direct supervision of a registered nurse who is immediately available.
  • Perform nursing functions limited to current nursing education and verified ability by the program.
  • Assume responsibility for accurate and timely administration of medications except chemotherapy IV medications and scheduled drugs.
  • Practice the 8 rights of medication administration and other safety measures for medication storage and handling.
  • Evaluate and note side effects of all medications, procedures, and treatments and report to the RN supervisor as indicated.
  • Notify the RN when a medication, procedure, or treatment is due or cannot be performed.
  • Keep RN, unit manager, and charge nurse aware of changing patient needs that may require modification in plan of care or orders.
  • Document per all established policies and procedures.
  • Transcribe, note, and carry out physician orders accurately and promptly.
  • Safeguard patient rights and dignity at all times.
  • Assist with prompt responses to call lights.
  • Assist other team members to ensure the plan of care is followed.
  • Meet fluid and dietary needs, assist in dining rooms and with patient feedings.
  • Position, clean, and groom patients appropriately.
  • Adhere to rehabilitative programs.
  • Maintain patient and facility safety.
  • Report any incidents, abuse, or neglect immediately.
  • Provide hands‑on care during patient transfers, ADLs, comfort, hygiene, and nutrition.
  • Ensure patients are ready to receive services such as appointments, medications, treatment, labs, procedures, and therapies.
  • Safeguard patient belongings and report unexplained loss.
  • Follow all safety policies, including incidents, accidents, fire, disaster, and restraints.
  • Practice stewardship by utilizing supplies wisely and being conscious of costs.
Required Qualifications
  • High‑school diploma or equivalent.
  • Enrolled in a nursing program or graduated within the last 30 days.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
  • Demonstrate a harmonious and goodwill‑promoting attitude toward patients, residents, caregivers, and coworkers.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Listen actively to patients, residents, caregivers, co‑workers, and supervisors.
  • Competent documentation skills.
  • Ability to handle interpersonal relationships and circumstances involving safety.
