Registered Nurse 2 On-Call (RN2) – Olympic Correctional Center, Forks, WA

Salary: $45.01-$73.79 per hour

The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Registered Nurse (RN2) for the Olympic Correctional Center (OCC) located in Forks, WA.

On-Call / Intermittent Staff Expectations
  • Be available to work all shifts (day, swing, graveyard) including weekends and holidays as requested.
  • To qualify for benefits upon hire, must be willing to work 10 shifts a month.
  • Provide written availability by the 10th of each month for the following month’s coverage.
  • Be willing to complete a paid six‑week correctional worker core training (not required).
Pay and Shift Premiums

Registered Nurses receive a shift differential of $2.50 per hour for evening and night shift work. Employees may also qualify for:

  • $1.00 per hour for hours assigned to work from 11:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m.
  • $3.00 per hour for hours worked from Friday midnight to Sunday midnight.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver services that promote health, foster healing, and support coping and adjustment to various health conditions.
  • Screen, assess, and evaluate incarcerated individuals and their conditions.
  • Respond promptly and clinically appropriately to all healthcare requests.
  • Delegate and supervise work, monitor, manage, coordinate, and deliver health care.
  • Plan transitions, make referrals, and arrange follow‑up when patients transfer or return to the community.
  • Assist patients in improving their skills and ability to provide care for themselves and their families.
  • Counsel, consult, teach, advise, and provide health information that improves quality of health services and/or enhances safety and security.
Required Qualifications
  • Active and unencumbered license as a Registered Nurse in Washington State. If holding a multi‑state/compact license from another state, must change primary state of residence to WA and apply for a WA State Multi‑State license within 60 days of employment.
  • Or an unencumbered multi‑state license from a participating Compact state, with completion of Suicide Prevention, EDIR training, and the MLS demographic survey.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Washington State RN license prior to employment. Must maintain unencumbered, unrestricted licensure continuously.
  • One year of experience working as a Registered Nurse.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States (I‑9).
  • Pass a background check and be subject to a pre‑employment drug test.
  • Will work in a potentially hazardous setting, including exposure to animal care projects and aerosol pepper spray; must be able to comply with safety procedures.
  • Physical ability to work in spaces, climb stairs, walk long distances, and lift up to 30 pounds (occasionally up to 50 pounds or push up to 100 pounds).
  • Foreign equivalent degrees awarded outside the United States must be accompanied by a credential evaluation report.
  • Work authorization that does not require employer sponsorship for present or future visa status.
  • Compliance with respiratory protection requirements, including medical evaluation, fit testing, and training as per WA Industrial Safety Act standards.
  • Salary is based on experience and will be determined at the time of a final offer.
