Advanced Care Practitioner – On Call
Location:
Clallam Bay Corrections Center, Clallam Bay, Washington.
Monthly salary: $11,071.00 – $18,145.00.
Position overview:
Highly motivated Advanced Care Practitioner (ACP) – Physician Assistant‑Certified or Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner – to deliver quality health care to incarcerated individuals under supervision of the Facility Medical Director.
- Diagnose, treat, and manage medical problems within scope of practice, in accordance with agency guidelines and standards of care.
- Ensure continuity of care and coordinate health services.
- Perform minor surgical procedures within scope of practice.
- Order, interpret, and act upon diagnostic testing.
- Prescribe medications, including controlled substances, per agency guidelines.
- Provide medical and technical assistance to other health‑care personnel as needed.
- Seek consultation with colleagues, staff physicians, and outside medical consultants.
- Admit and care for infirmary/observation patients as indicated.
- Perform initial screening and physical examinations.
- Update OMNI database and PULHES codes.
- Present cases at CRC as indicated.
- Serve on call duties.
- Communicate effectively in writing, verbally, and via electronic media with incarcerated individuals, families, and institutional personnel.
- Legibly document clinical findings and actions in health records, protecting confidentiality.
- Maintain accurate and complete records.
- Complete incident reports and investigate as directed.
- Participate in Clinical/facility‑wide Coordinated Quality Improvement Program (CQIP) projects.
- Attend CQIP/QMP meetings and report back to nursing and support staff.
- Represent facility on state‑wide quality improvement initiatives.
- Consult with custody staff regarding health and safety of incarcerated individuals.
- Delegate and assign patient responsibilities to nurses and assistive nursing personnel, evaluating patient needs, condition, and stability.
- Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician’s Assistants.
- Or, a valid Washington State license as a Registered Nurse and an active Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner license in Washington.
- Unrestricted license to practice as a midlevel practitioner and prescribe scheduled drugs.
- Valid and continuously unrestricted licensure (PA‑C, RN, ARNP).
- Experience as a mid‑level health care provider in a correctional facility.
- Certification as a Correctional Health Professional by the Academy of Correctional Health Professionals.
Master’s degree in Nursing with Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner certification OR graduate from a Physician Assistant training program.
