Advanced Care Practitioner – Permanent
Clallam Bay Corrections Center, Clallam Bay, Washington.
Monthly salary: $11,071.00–$18,145.00.
OverviewThe Department of Corrections seeks a highly motivated and qualified Advanced Care Practitioner (ACP) to deliver quality health care to patients within Clallam Bay Corrections Center under the supervision of the Facility Medical Director.
ResponsibilitiesClinical Care:
- Diagnose and treat health‑related problems within scope of practice.
- Ensure continuity of care and perform minor surgical procedures as indicated.
- Order, interpret, and act on diagnostic testing.
- Prescribe medications, including controlled substances, in accordance with agency guidelines.
- Provide medical and technical assistance to other health‑care personnel.
- Seek consultation with colleagues, staff physicians, and external consultants.
- Admit and care for infirmary/observation patients.
- Complete initial screening and physical examinations.
- Update OMNI database and PULHES codes.
- Present cases at the Clinical Review Committee (CRC).
- Perform call duties.
Communication & Documentation:
- Effectively communicate verbally, in writing, and via electronic media with incarcerated individuals, families, and other staff.
- Legibly document subjective and objective clinical findings and actions taken.
- Protect confidentiality of health records and maintain accurate records.
- Complete unusual incident reports as directed.
- Respond to verbal and written requests from incarcerated individuals and staff.
Quality Improvement & Administration:
- Participate in facility and state‑wide quality improvement initiatives, including the Coordinated Quality Improvement Program (CQIP).
- Report back to nursing and support staff to improve patient care.
- Practice in accordance with DOC policy and the Washington DOC Health Plan.
- Participate in formal clinical oversight per facility and DOC structure.
Safety & Delegation:
- Consult with custody and other staff regarding health and safety of incarcerated individuals.
- Provide medical health and safety advice when needed.
- Delegate patient responsibility to nurses and assistive personnel after evaluating patient needs and task complexity.
- Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician's Assistants.
- OR:
Valid Washington State license to practice as a Registered Nurse and active license as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner. - Unrestricted license to practice as a midlevel practitioner and prescribe scheduled drugs.
- Licensure (PA‑C, RN, ARNP) must be valid and continuously unrestricted.
- Experience as a mid‑level health‑care provider in a correctional facility.
- Certified Correctional Health Professional by the Academy of Correctional Health Professionals.
- Master’s degree in Nursing with Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner certification or completion of a Physician Assistant training program.
