The Nurse Technician is a nursing student employed by Summit Pacific Medical Center. Candidates must be currently enrolled in good standing in a nursing program approved by the commission, or a graduate of such a program who graduated within the last 30 days or who has received a determination from the secretary that there is good cause to continue the registration period.

Depending on experience: $20.72 – $30.16 per hour.

• Maintain requirements to qualify for employment as a nursing technician.
• Follow scope of practice as defined in WAC’s and facility standards.
• Work only under the direct supervision of a registered nurse who is immediately available.
• Perform specific nursing functions based upon current nursing education and verified competence by the nursing program.
• Assume responsibility for accurate and timely administration of medications (except chemotherapy intravenous medications and scheduled drugs).
• Practice the 8 rights of medication administration:
  Drug, Patient/Resident, Dose, Time, Route, Dosage Form, Response, Documentation.
• Evaluate the effects and note side effects of all medications, procedures, and treatments administered and report to the RN Supervisor as indicated.
• Notify the RN when any medication, procedure, or treatment cannot be performed or is due.
• Keep RN, Unit Manager, and Charge Nurse aware of changing Patient/Resident needs that may require modification of the plan of care or nursing orders.
• Document according to all established policies and procedures.
• Assist with prompt responses to call lights.
• Assist other team members to ensure: plan of care is followed; fluid and dietary needs are met; patient positioning, cleanliness, and grooming; rehabilitative programs; and safety are maintained.
• Report any alleged incidents, observations of abuse and/or neglect of a Patient/Resident immediately.
• Provide and support hands‑on care in areas of transfer, ADL’s, comfort, hygiene, and nutritional needs.
• Ensure patients are ready to receive services in a timely manner (appointments, medications, treatments, labs, procedures, therapies).
• Safeguard patient belongings and report unexplained loss.
• Ensure all safety policies are followed (incidents, accidents, injuries, fire, disaster, restraints).
• Practice stewardship by utilizing supplies wisely and being conscious of costs.
