Description:

Provides professional care to patients who present with urgent, emergent, chronic, or potential health problems. Provides patient care services under the direction of the provider and/or physician. Works as a team with other clinic staff in providing timely and appropriate patient services, including phone triage and patient teaching/instruction. Assists the provider and/or physician in minor procedures as directed.###

Minimum qualifications:

### MA:
* High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
* State License - Medical Assistant-Certified Required
* Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification or must be obtained within 30 days of hire through American Heart Association (AHA) or equivalent organization.### LPN:
* Education deferred based on Washington licensure
* Washington State licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse with annual renewal required.
* Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification or must be obtained within 30 days of hire through American Heart Association (AHA) or equivalent organization.
* Recent experience in medication administration required. One-year recent nursing experience preferred.### Primary job responsibilities:
* Participates in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care according to established standards.
* Demonstrates knowledge of pathophysiology and the disease process by thorough, accurate assessments and documentation of same.
* Alerts appropriate staff members to pertinent information regarding changes in patients' condition in order to ensure safe care.
* Documents accurately, promptly, and appropriately according to clinic procedure, including condition, treatment initiated, and results.
* Provides accurate and appropriate information to provider.
* Adjusts care to the age-related needs of the patient.
* Provides and/or assists medical assistant functions.
* Administers medication and treatment according to procedure/protocol for MA's. Documents what is given and patient response to treatment or medication.
* Updates Medication Administration Record in patient's chart to reflect physician orders.
* Performs therapeutic and diagnostic procedures as prescribed
* Keeps rooms neat and uncluttered.
* Participates in holistic approach in assessing the patients through documentation, on appropriate forms.
* Demonstrates sensitivity to patients' emotional, social and mental health needs.
* Participates in plan of care and reports changes and/or concerns to provider.
* Identifies the psycho-social characteristics of patients.
* Approaches age-related needs appropriately.
- Pediatric through adolescent patients and geriatric patients.
* Provides training for self-care according to patient capabilities.
* Maintains a safe environment.
* Observes all infection control and safety policies and procedures.
* Assures patient compliance with safety precautions.
* Demonstrates knowledge of clinic emergency procedures and codes.
* Provides adequate protection of patient during care and transport.
* Maintains medical emergency kit with appropriate equipment.
* Replaces sharps containers as needed.
* Contributes to an efficient, cohesive, and coordinated clinic by using good communication skills.
* Answers phone promptly, checks voice mail frequently, and delivers messages to appropriate staff members.
* Conducts patient care in a professional manner while demonstrating a caring and compassionate attitude.
* Documents care as directed.
* Keeps provider informed of patient responses, complaints, or other problems.
* Accepts direction and guidance from provider.
* Attends a minimum of 16 hours of continuing education in health care per year.
* Responds to stressful situation in mature, calm manner.
* Utilize knowledge of basic nursing principles.
* Administers routine immunizations, therapeutic injections and skin tests. Documents appropriately. Educates parents/patient on waiting times and expected reactions.
* Obtains blood pressure, pulse, respirations, and temperature on all patients unless provider specifies otherwise. Informs provider of unusual changes.
