The Perioperative Services Director oversees the safe and efficient delivery of care throughout the continuum of care, including the surgery clinic, perioperative areas, anesthesia, and sterile processing. The Director ensures alignment with the department's and the organization's vision, mission, and values. The Director is competent to perform the duties of a staff RN. He is familiar with the business, regulatory, and personnel management aspects of a surgery department, including efficiency and best practices, state and federal regulations, quality measures, performance management, discipline, budgeting, staffing, and process improvement.

The Director demonstrates excellence in customer service during interactions with patients, families, and other customers. They work collaboratively with colleagues/clinic staff and departments throughout the organization to provide optimal outcomes for our patients in a compassionate, professional, ethical, and knowledgeable fashion. Maintains a safe and clean environment for the care of the patient(s), employees, and public.

• Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing;
  Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
• RN license in Washington State required.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification required.
• Current Operating Room Nurse Certification preferred.

• Minimum 10 years recent nursing experience required, with at least five years in the Operating Room setting
• Minimum five years experience working in a supervisory/managerial capacity required
• Experience overseeing the full perioperative continuum, including surgery clinic, pre-admission testing, pre-op, operating room, PACU, procedural services, and sterile processing .
• Experience with surgical scheduling, patient access, referral management, and preoperative clearance processes
• Experience managing departmental budgets, productivity, capital planning, equipment replacement, supply costs, implants, and vendor contracts
• Experience with surgical documentation, charging, coding, billing, implant tracking, and revenue reconciliation

• Planning and Coordination of Services:
  Surgical services are planned, coordinated, and delivered with the patient’s needs as the primary focus. Monitors the delivery of surgical services to ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies, including the Department of Health, as well as hospital policy; assists staff with work problems/challenges and helps to troubleshoot and resolve problems.

  Listens to and, as needed, attempts to resolve multifaceted concerns of patients, families, employees, and physicians/providers. Written and verbal communications are accurately delivered and received in a timely, clear, and appropriate manner. Communicates clearly and precisely with staff regarding expectations, operations, work methods, and processes, changes in work methods/practices, and changes in regulations.
