Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse

Summary

The Colville School District is now accepting applications for a 1:1 Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or a Registered Nurse (RN) at the Junior High School. This position is a one-to-one nursing assignment that requires riding the bus with the student from home to school and school to home. The nurse will provide direct nursing care, ventilator and tracheostomy management, and emergency response as needed.

As a member of the Colville School District staff, the nurse plays a vital role on a high-performing healthcare team. This position serves as a professional liaison between the school, families, healthcare providers, and the district nurse. Candidates must hold a current Washington Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license or Registered Nurse (RN) license.

• Provide constant 1:1 nursing care for a student during the school day and on the bus.
• Monitor ventilator and tracheostomy function, oxygen saturation, vital signs, and overall medical status.
• Perform suctioning, trach care, ventilator management, and emergency interventions as outlined in the student's care plan.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physician's orders.
• Work as a positive and collaborative member of the school staff to foster the primary goals of the Colville School District.
• Implement and follow the student's Individualized Health Care Plan and Emergency Care Plan.
• Maintain accurate documentation of services, observations, and interventions.
• Communicate effectively with the district nurse, building staff, health care providers, and parents/guardians.
• Safely accompany the student on the school bus to and from school daily.
• Maintain required medical supplies and ensure equipment readiness.
• Participate in required training and district health/safety procedures.
• Perform other health-related duties as assigned within the scope of practice.
• Maintain personal transportation and demonstrate a willingness to work occasionally beyond regular working hours.
• Ability and willingness to perform medical intervention services while traveling to and from school events in a District-provided vehicle or in a First Student Transportation bus and be available to render aid during school events.
• Must be willing to ride on a school bus with designated students when necessary.
• Collaborate with the building supervisors and school nurse (supervisor) in the development and evaluation of the health needs of the assignment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
