Grooming Salon Manager

Overview

As a Grooming Salon Leader at Petco, you will lead salon operations and team members, while delivering expert grooming services to our customers' pets. Your passion for people and pets will ensure a positive experience for partners and exceptional care for every pet.

• Oversee day-to-day grooming salon operations, optimize scheduling and capacity, manage inventory, and execute staffing plans
• Recruit, hire, train, and supervise salon staff; provide coaching, feedback, and performance evaluations
• Create and manage efficient grooming schedules to maximize productivity and meet customer demand
• Monitor performance metrics (revenue, customer satisfaction, partner productivity) and develop action plans
• Collaborate with store management to achieve sales targets and salon objectives
• Interact professionally with pet parents, provide exceptional service, and address inquiries
• Stay current with grooming industry trends and best practices
• Perform professional grooming services and ensure safety, comfort, and well-being of pets
• Operate and maintain grooming tools and equipment
• Evaluate individual pet needs and recommend grooming maintenance and home care
• Ensure safety and well-being of animals; report concerns promptly
• Maintain a clean, sanitary grooming area and comply with hygiene policies
• Apply Petco grooming policies and standards to ensure safety and quality

• 2+ years as a professional groomer or completion of a grooming training program
• Strong leadership and ability to train and develop people; 1-2 years salon management preferred
• High-school diploma or GED preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Expert knowledge of dog breeds, grooming requirements, health issues, and behaviors
• Expert-level proficiency in breed-specific cuts, styling, and grooming standards
• Genuine passion for animals and a desire to continue a grooming career
• Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills with guidance as needed
• Results-driven with focus on salon productivity and growth
• Attention to detail and ability to groom to high standards
• Ability to handle pets of all sizes and temperaments with care
• Full-time availability, including weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed

The majority of duties are indoors in the grooming salon. Physical requirements include bending, kneeling, lifting up to 30 pounds, and standing for long periods. Exposure to heights with ladders or other tools may be required. A significant amount of time will be spent in direct contact with pets and their owners. The environment can be noisy and wet.

Salary range: $15.00 - $30.00 per hour. Pay may vary by location and experience; regulatory minimum wage may apply.
