The Ranch Hand is responsible for completing daily operations at Agri Beef’s ranch in Loomis, WA, including monitoring and moving cattle. Their work enables day-to-day operation of the ranch. This position reports to the Ranch Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Monitor animal health
- Conduct equipment inspections
- Move cattle on horseback, roping and doctoring cattle as necessary
- Construct and maintain fence
- Operate and maintain equipment to feed cattle
- Operate and maintain haying equipment
- Operate and maintain irrigation equipment, including pivots and wheel lines
- Calve out cows and heifers
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Maintain a positive attendance record by demonstrating consistent and punctual attendance on a regular basis
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Strong horse-riding ability/experience
- Keen ability to identify distressed cattle
- Must be able to work extended seasonal hours as needed
- Ability to repair ranch equipment, vehicles, and water systems
- Ability to perform basic welding and to use a cutting torch
- Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather and conditions
- Must possess a valid driver’s license; CDL preferred but not required
- Work is of physical nature, generally requires employees to lift up to 100 pounds and walk extended distances.
- Minimum of five (5) years of ranch working experience preferred
- Experience working with AI
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
