Substitute Groundskeeper 1 / Groundskeeper
Location: All schools
Pay: $26.37 per hour
Job SummaryThe Groundskeeper 1 works under the direction of Groundskeeper 2 and the Director of Facilities and Safety to keep the district's grounds in a state of operating excellence. Ensure that the grounds present no problems or interruptions to educational programs and promote a culture of landscaping excellence. This includes grounds maintenance, minor repairs, and regular maintenance to facilities. The Groundskeeper 1 assists toward the accomplishment of the mission of the Woodland Public Schools of preparing students for career, life, and college so that they can become responsible and successful citizens.
Qualifications- Recent Groundskeeping or Landscaping experience
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Working knowledge of Grounds practices
- Understanding of safety protocols associated with various fertilizers and other chemicals
- Understanding of the use and need for PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
- Understand the usage and location of SDS (safety data sheets)
- Ability to work around children and present a positive role model
- Ability to effectively communicate with others
- Ability to follow oral or written work orders from supervisors
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, and others
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure pertinent to the job
- Ability to work in poor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, or snow
- Ability to safely work above ground from ladders
- Regular and punctual attendance to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position to achieve program requirements

- Assists parents and other visitors to school buildings with special events and programs

- Previous experience with hand tools and power equipment, including snow blowers, leaf blowers, shovels, a power mower, and hand tools
- Operate tractor and PTO attachments
- Clean and repair gutters and downspouts
- Complete scheduled equipment on landscaping equipment
- Winterize landscaping equipment
- Distribute consumable supplies as needed
- Deice sidewalks, ramps, and parking areas as needed
- Set up stadium and outdoor areas for events as directed
- Grade gravel roads as needed
- Fertilize fields as needed
- Repair irrigation systems as needed
- Deploy roof moss control as needed
- Trim Bushes and trees as needed
- Empty exterior trash receptacles
- Disperse food deliveries to all schools
- Move deliveries and packages throughout the district
- Remove graffiti when identified or found
- Attend meetings as required for training and communication
- Identify and correct safety deficiencies when they are identified or found
- Comply with the school district's regulations and the local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash and recyclable materials
- Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor

- Regularly communicate with the Director of Facilities and Safety and building administrators for things needing to be done (check the mailbox daily for messages)
- Know the location of and how to operate all emergency shut‑off equipment and security systems
