Bi‑weekly reviews
Collect fisheries data for research and monitor and evaluate projects within the Okanogan River Basin. Produce and/or transport flake ice for fishing operations; transport fresh or frozen fish to tribal districts for distribution; rinse, vacuum, seal, and freeze salmon for long‑term storage; clean and fillet salmon for long‑term care; maintain and clean processing building and equipment; communicate with other staff and supervisors regarding fish processing and distribution.
Assist with purse seine, beach seine, and tangle net fishing; hatchery surplus activities; provide overnight and/or weekend security for tribal fishing equipment near Brewster, WA; conduct creel survey duties at Chief Joseph Dam tailrace or other tribal fisheries.

- Natural Resource Technician I:
High School Diploma or GED with satisfactory work history. - Natural Resource Technician II:
High School Diploma or GED with 36 months progressively responsible experience equivalent to Technician I, or an Associate’s Degree in applicable science (submit transcripts). - Natural Resource Technician Senior:
Bachelor’s Degree in wildlife, natural resources science, range, or environmental science OR Associate’s Degree in fish, wildlife, and/or natural resource management (submit transcripts) AND 24 months experience at Technician II with satisfactory performance review OR HS Diploma/GED and 48 months combined education/experience. Must have a valid driver’s license; may require ClassB CDL; clean driving record for U.S. Government Motor Vehicle Operators Identification card;
food handler’s permit within 10 days; forklift operator license within 6 months;
Washington State boat safety course within 90 days. Maintain licenses and certifications throughout employment.
- Harvesting salmonids with a purse seine.
- Basic equipment maintenance and repair.
- Computer literacy: word processing, spreadsheets, databases, web browsing.
- Attention to detail; use of hand and power tools; proper care and maintenance of tools.
- Proficient English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation; professional correspondence.
- Human relations skills; patience with internal and external customers; convey technical concepts.
- Operate electrical and processing equipment: walk‑in freezer, vacuum sealer, ice machines, fillet knives, band saw.
- Operate forklift.
- Use hand or power tools safely.
- Perform varied outdoor tasks.
- Work effectively in a multicultural team environment.
- Work both in office and at field sites.
- Time‑management and organization to achieve objectives.
- Accurate identification of freshwater fish species of the Columbia River basin.
- Communicate effectively with coworkers, crew, and the public.

- Physical condition: lift 50lb, pull, haul in variable terrain and weather; repeated tasks.
- Long shifts, variable schedule including nights, early mornings, late evenings, holidays, weekends.
- Travel for meetings, training, conference participation.
- Drive in adverse weather conditions.
- Complete repetitive tasks such as habitat data collection.
- Sit or stand for extended periods.
- Swim and work on boats, docks, and catwalks around swift moving cold water.
- Operate 4‑wheel drive vehicles; safely operate rafts and motor boats in riverine environments.
- Operate hand and power tools and sampling gear safely.
Tribal member and Indian preference apply; preference given to honorably discharged veterans who are minimally qualified.
Drug Screening and Background ChecksPosition is safety sensitive; subject to pre‑employment drug testing. Also subject to reasonable suspicion and post‑accident drug testing. May require pre‑employment background clearances maintained throughout employment.
