Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Promote a positive and inclusive program environment.

  • Foster a culture of fun, safety, belonging, and YMCA values.
  • Model and uphold YMCA policies, procedures, and the YMCA Code of Conduct.
  • Build positive relationships with participants, families, staff, and community members.
2. Coordinate and deliver high-quality resident camp and outdoor recreation programs.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate camp activities that meet participant needs and YMCA standards.
  • Lead and support activities such as archery, low ropes, environmental education, water activities, nature hikes, team-building activities, and other outdoor experiences as assigned.
  • Ensure programs are delivered in a safe, engaging, and inclusive manner.
  • Maintain current knowledge of youth development principles and outdoor recreation best practices.
  • Seek and utilize participant and family feedback to improve program quality and participant experiences.
3. Support and supervise seasonal camp staff.
  • Assist with recruiting, onboarding, training, and scheduling seasonal camp staff.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and support to camp staff.
  • Promote professional growth, teamwork, and accountability among staff.
  • Assist with staff evaluations and performance feedback in partnership with YMCA leadership.
4. Ensure participant safety and risk management.
  • Ensure emergency action plans, health procedures, and risk management practices are followed.
5. Coordinate program administration and participant records.
  • Support participant registration processes and maintain accurate program records.
  • Assist with program scheduling, communication, attendance tracking, and reporting.
  • Monitor program supplies and equipment and communicate replacement or maintenance needs.
6. Support Outdoor Recreation P rogram Director and the Lake Wenatchee YMCA Director throughout the year.
  • Assist with planning and delivery of all r ecreation al programs in various locations .
  • Support school programs, community partnerships, special events , and outdoor initiatives.
  • Collaborate with YMCA departments to expand outdoor recreation opportunities for youth, families, and community members.
  • Assist with program logistics , participant support, and event coordination.
8. Support YMCA initiatives and special events .
  • Participate in YMCA special events , community outreach activities, and association-wide initiatives as assigned.
  • Represent the YMCA in a professional manner and support the organization's mission and strategic priorities.
OTHER POSITION FUNCTIONS
  • Identify and report maintenance, safety, and facility concerns.
  • Help maintain clean, safe, and organized program spaces that support positive participant experiences .
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive employee, member, and organizational information.
  • Foster and maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Attend and actively participate in required meetings, trainings, and YMCA events.
  • Respond appropriately to emergency situations in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support organizational goals and operational needs.
Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in recreation, outdoor education, education, youth development, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Four or more years of experience in resident camp, outdoor recreation, youth development, education, or related programming.
  • Experience working with children, teens, and families in group or outdoor settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead groups, lead and manage staff, manage multiple priorities, and foster a safe, inclusive, and positive environment.
  • Strong communication , organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
