Basic Functions:
This is a Non-Exempt position. The Natural Resources Technician I/II (Seasonal) assists project biologists with collecting data for fisheries/habitat research, monitoring and evaluation projects within the Okanogan River basin for the Fish & Wildlife’s Okanogan Basin Monitoring and Evaluation Program. This is a three to five-month seasonal position, typically starting Aug 1 and ending on November 30. Work is performed indoors where minimal safety considerations exist and outdoors where exposure to water, hazardous elements, animals, snakes, and inclement weather conditions exist.

- For Natural Resource Technician I: HS Diploma or GED and satisfactory work history.
- For Natural Resource Technician II:
Requires a High School Diploma or GED and 36 months progressively responsible experience equivalent to the Technician I or equivalent level, related to wildlife, natural resource management or other closely related field. An Associates Degree in the applicable science will substitute for experience. (Must submit transcripts for credit). - Requires a valid driver's license and be eligible for the Tribes' vehicle insurance and maintain throughout employment.
- Driving record must qualify for a U.S. Government Motor Vehicle Operators Identification card.
- Requires knowledge and skill in identifying fish in the Upper Columbia Basin is highly valued (preferred.)
- Requires knowledge of standard fishery techniques.
- Requires basic knowledge of biological data collection.
- Requires accurate identification of freshwater fish species of the Columbia River basin.
- Requires basic sampling gear and equipment maintenance and repair.
- Requires working knowledge of computers for word-processing, spreadsheet, and database software for data entry and web browser for researching sampling equipment.
- Requires the skill of attention to detail.
- Requires experience using hand and power tools, and proper care and maintenance of tools.
- Requires sufficient knowledge of proper English usage, grammar, spelling, and punctuation to prepare professional correspondence.
- Requires sufficient human relations skill to work productively and cooperatively with diverse teams, exercise patience when dealing with internal and external customers, and convey technical concepts.
- Requires the ability to efficiently fulfill the responsibilities of this position and ensure the success of the Colville Tribes' Okanogan Basin Monitoring and Evaluation Program.
- Requires the ability to perform duties in both an office environment and at field sites where work is performed.
- Requires the ability to execute duties and responsibilities as assigned in a timely fashion.
