Natural Resources Technician Senior / Lead

$24.03 - 32.54, per hour

This is a Non-Exempt position. The incumbent of this position will work under the direction of the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation (CTCR) Resident Fish Division lead biologist for Aquatic Invasive Species Project. The principal duties of this position will include field work studies related to the non-native species removal programs and aquatic invasive species monitoring project in the water bodies in and around the Reservation.

Duties will include, but are not limited to, boat and backpack electrofishing surveys, gillnetting surveys, fyke net surveys, weir and screw trap studies, and fish diet studies. The incumbent will be responsible for the maintenance of all field equipment including boats, boat trailers and vehicles. This position will be required to pass and maintain a Class A commercial drivers license.

this position requires driving, lifting, pulling, hauling and working in incremental weather. The incumbent must be able to work long hours, weekends, and may be required to travel.

Education and Training:

Natural Resources Technician Senior:
Requires a Bachelors Degree form a regionally accredited college or university in wildlife, natural resources science, range or environmental sciences (must provide transcripts for credit) OR Associate's Degree in the fields of fish, wildlife, and/or natural resource management (must submit transcripts for credit) AND 24 months of experience at a Technician II and satisfactory work performance review OR 48 months combined education/experience demonstrating the ability to perform the functions of this position.

A two-year technical degree in the field of fish, wildlife and /or natural resources management may substitute for twenty-four months of experience.

Natural Resources Technician Leader: A Bachelor of Science Degree from an accredited college or university in biology, natural resources, information technology or other applicable field(must submit transcripts for credit) AND 12 months of required experience OR;
An AA Degree in the applicable science AND 60 months of required experience(must provide transcripts for credit) OR HS Diploma or GED and 96 months relevant work history.

Requires a valid driver's license and be eligible for the Tribes vehicle insurance.

Requires a class A CDL or obtain a CDL within one year of hire.

Requires a clean driving record that qualifies for U.S. Government Motor Vehicle Operators Identification card.

Requires a Washington State boat safety course within 90 days of hire.

Must maintain license and certifications throughout employment.

Requires knowledge of Lake Roosevelt fish species and ability to correctly identify preferred.

Requires knowledge of standard fishery techniques.

Requires basic knowledge of biological data collection.

Requires basic sampling gear and equipment maintenance and repair.

Requires working knowledge of computers for word-processing, spreadsheets, and database software for data entry and web browser for researching sampling equipment.

Requires the skill of attention to detail.

Requires experience using hand and power tools, and proper care and maintenance of tools.

Requires sufficient knowledge of proper English usage, grammar, spelling and punctuation to prepare professional correspondence.

Requires sufficient human relations skill to work productively and cooperatively with diverse teams, exercise patience when dealing with internal and external customers, and convey technical concepts.

Requires skill and experience in operating and maintaining boats and other research equipment.

Requires the ability to efficiently fulfill the responsibilities of the position.

Requires the ability to enter data into spreadsheets and databases, quality control of finalized data sets.
