Payroll & AP Specialist

Job Description

We are the national leader in producing premium decarb free tool and alloy steel and we have been doing it for 78 years, here in the Washington area the entire time. We are hiring a Payroll & AP Clerk to join our accounting team.

This is a hands-on processing role, and you will not be doing it alone. You will run the payroll cycle in ADP under our Accounting Manager, who reviews and approves every payroll before it goes out, and you will support our Corporate Accountant on accounts payable in Epicor. If you are accurate, organized, and like work with a clear rhythm to it, this is a good fit.

What You'll Do

• Enter and process payroll for multiple entities across several states in ADP

• Review daily timecards and flag problems before they reach a paycheck

• Track rate changes, probationary dates, union eligibility, vacation, and attendance

• Apply union dues and pension rates from established schedules

• Enter payroll journal entries and run standard reports for department managers

• Support the Corporate Accountant on accounts payable: coding and posting invoices, matching to POs, and preparing vendor payment runs

• Reconcile routine general ledger accounts and pull documentation at close

What We're Looking For

• 1–2 years in payroll, accounts payable, or accounting support

• Solid Excel skills

• Real attention to detail — this is work where small errors get noticed

• Ability to keep compensation information confidential

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree a plus

• ADP payroll or Epicor ERP experience is a strong plus — if you have used either, say so in your application

• Union payroll or multi-state experience is a plus, but we will train the right person
