Teacher Aide
The Teacher Aide supports the implementation of high-quality after school and summer programming for students participating in the 21st Century Community Learning Centers Program. The Teacher Aide assists instructional staff with academic enrichment, STEAM activities, student supervision, classroom management, and daily program operations while helping to create a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment.
- Assist Education Specialists and instructional staff with daily program activities and lessons.
- Support students during academic enrichment, homework assistance, tutoring, and STEAM activities.
- Help prepare instructional materials, supplies, and classroom spaces for program activities.
- Provide individual and small-group assistance to students as directed by instructional staff.
- Supervise students during program hours, transitions, field trips, and special events.
- Assist with student attendance, sign-in/sign-out procedures, and other required documentation.
- Encourage positive student behavior and support classroom management efforts.
- Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment for all participants.
- Support family engagement activities, workshops, and special events as assigned.
- Assist with program setup, cleanup, and organization of materials and equipment.
- Follow all program policies, school district procedures, and safety protocols.
- Attend required staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Program Director or Site Coordinator.
- Adheres to all policies, laws, regulations and codes of ethics and confidentiality as outlined by federal and state laws, and agency policies and procedures.
- High School Diploma or GED. Experience working with children or youth in educational, recreational, childcare or community settings.
Preferred qualifications:
Associate degree, paraprofessional certification, or coursework in education, child development, human services, or a related field. Experience supporting STEAM, enrichment, or after school programming. Experience working with diverse student populations - Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, program staff, school district personnel and other agency personnel.
- Ability to receive, understand, and communicate information with effectiveness and follow instructions.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
- Must successfully obtain Criminal History Clearance from the Pennsylvania State Police and Child Abuse Clearance from the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services and Fingerprint Based FBI Clearance, mandated reporter training certification, and any additional clearances or trainings required by CONNECT, Inc., participating school districts, or Pennsylvania Department of Education Guidelines.
- Must not be excluded from participation in Medicare, Medicaid, or any other federal health care programs.
- Ability to transport oneself and/or clients as program needs dictate.
- Ability to assist, move, and/or transfer client's personal effects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work split shifts and flexibility to move to various locations when program needs dictates.
