Assistant Director of Admission
Washington & Jefferson College seeks a dynamic, student-centered Assistant Director of Admissions to recruit, counsel, and enroll prospective students who will contribute to the academic excellence and vibrant campus community of the College. The Assistant Director of Admissions serves as a primary representative of the College to prospective students, families, school counselors, and community partners, guiding students through the admissions process and helping them discover how W&J can help them achieve their goals.
As a member of the Enrollment team, the Assistant Director of Admissions is responsible for managing an assigned recruitment territory, developing meaningful relationships with prospective students and influencers, and contributing to the achievement of institutional enrollment goals. This position requires extensive travel, exceptional communication skills, a commitment to outstanding customer service, and a passion for helping students find their place at W&J.

Assistant Director of Admission plays a critical role in delivering The W&J Way by ensuring every interaction with prospective students and families reflects the College's commitment to personal attention, meaningful relationships, and student success.
Essential ResponsibilitiesRecruitment & Territory Management
- Manage an assigned recruitment territory and develop strategic plans to achieve application, admission, and enrollment goals.
- Conduct high school visits, college fairs, community-based organization visits, and other recruitment activities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with high school counselors, independent counselors, alumni, and community partners.
- Analyze territory performance and implement strategies to increase applications, admits, and deposits.
- Travel extensively throughout assigned regions and represent the College at recruitment events.
Student & Family Engagement
- Counsel prospective students and families through all stages of the admissions process.
- Conduct interviews, information sessions, presentations, and campus visit experiences.
- Respond promptly and professionally to inquiries from students, parents, counselors, and campus partners.
- Serve as a trusted resource regarding admissions requirements, academic programs, financial aid, campus life, and student opportunities.
- Participate in yield and admitted-student events designed to convert admitted students into enrolled students.
Application Review & Enrollment Operations
- Evaluate applications for admission and make recommendations consistent with institutional policies and enrollment goals.
- Maintain accurate records and communications within the College's CRM system (Slate).
- Track and report recruitment activities, territory outcomes, and enrollment trends.
- Assist with special projects, enrollment initiatives, and strategic recruitment efforts as assigned.
Campus Collaboration and Other Responsibilities
- Partner with faculty, athletics, student affairs, financial aid, alumni relations, and marketing teams to support recruitment efforts.
- Assist with campus-wide admissions programs events.
- Serve as a positive ambassador for W&J both on and off campus.
- Maintain alignment with a peer professional network of professionals and appropriate organizations.
- Additional duties as assigned, which may include event planning, communication development, outreach and awareness initiatives, and leadership in a variety of areas such as social media marketing, targeted recruitment efforts towards select groups of students, and special projects.
Required
- Bachelor's degree.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to build relationships with diverse populations.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel extensively, including evenings and weekends.
- On-site/flexible work schedule with primary schedule Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:00 pm and evenings and weekends for events
Preferred
- Experience in admissions, higher education, sales, marketing, customer service, or related fields.
- Familiarity with CRM systems such as Slate.
- Knowledge of liberal arts education and student recruitment strategies.
