The Coordinator for Employer Engagement/Career Advisor serves as the primary liaison between the Center for Career Advising and Networking (CCAN), employers, alumni, and community partners. This position develops and maintains employer partnerships that create experiential learning opportunities and employment pathways for Washington & Jefferson College students. The coordinator provides career advising, cultivates employer relationships, coordinates networking and recruitment events, and promotes career readiness initiatives that support student success.
EmployerEngagement & Industry Programming
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employers and organizations engaged with CCAN.
- Develop and maintain relationships with employers, recruiters, alumni, and community partners.
- Lead the planning, logistics, and execution of signature career events, including career fairs, networking events, and employer information sessions, managing all aspects of scheduling, venue coordination, technology, and employer recruitment.
- Represent CCAN at campus and community events to promote employer engagement and student opportunities.
- Assess event participation and outcomes to improve future programming.
- Identify and cultivate internship, practicum, fellowship, mentoring, and employment opportunities for students.
- Collaborate with faculty, academic departments, and the Office of Alumni Engagement to expand career-connected learning opportunities.
- Facilitate mentoring initiatives connecting students to alumni and industry professionals.
- Provide personalized, high-impact career advising to students and alumni through individual and group sessions (in-person and virtual), guiding candidates through the entire job search lifecycle from resume creation to salary negotiation.
- Maintain deep knowledge of institutional degree programs and broader labor market trends to offer highly relevant, data-driven career advising.
- Collaborate on the development and execution of innovative career education curricula, workshops, and high-visibility alumni and employer networking events.
- Facilitate workshops, classroom presentations, information tables, and student engagement initiatives related to career and professional readiness.
- Coordinate the promotion, application, selection, and administration of internship award programs.
- Promote fellowship and merit-based opportunities in collaboration with faculty and academic departments.
- Support informational programming related to competitive awards and fellowships.
- Participate in departmental assessment, strategic planning, and institutional initiatives.
- Serve on College committees and perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred.
- One to three years of experience in career services, workforce development, recruitment, higher education, student affairs, or a related field.
- Knowledge of career readiness frameworks and best practices in student career development.
- Strong relationship-building, communication, organizational, and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to student success and experiential learning.
