Compensation: $1,800 flat project fee or $300 per hour with a maximum total hours per project.
Role Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled contractor to perform physical installations, calibrations, and training for large-format printers in accordance with the terms established in the INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR AGREEMENT.docx. The primary focus of this role involves the specialized setup and system integration of Mimaki and Mutoh models. The technician will operate under an independent contractor status, maintaining sole control over the methods used to perform the services while adhering to industry-standard safety and quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Site Preparation: Verify that the installation site meets all spatial, network, and electrical requirements before beginning setup.
- Physical Installation: Successfully unbox, assemble, and position Mimaki and Mutoh large-format printers at the designated site.
- System Integration: Connect the equipment to local network ports, configure requested static IP addresses, and install standard drivers or RIP software on designated local workstations.
- Calibration & Testing: Perform essential color calibrations, print head alignments, and diagnostic test prints to verify the machine operates to manufacturer specifications.
- End-User Orientation: Deliver a basic operational overview to the end-user, covering daily maintenance, basic software utilization, machine operation, and media loading.
- Site Cleanup: Ensure all packaging materials, pallets, and crating are entirely removed from the immediate installation area upon completion.
- Equipment: The contractor is required to supply all necessary protective gear, hand tools, and diagnostic equipment needed to execute the installation.
- Insurance: The contractor must maintain adequate commercial general liability insurance and, if employing others, workers' compensation insurance.
- Confidentiality: The contractor will have access to sensitive information (including customer lists, network passwords, and facility security codes) and must hold all data in strict confidence.
- Workmanship: All services must be performed in a highly professional, workmanlike manner that aligns with manufacturer guidelines and industry standards.
- Liability: The contractor assumes liability for any damage to the end-user's property, facility, or equipment resulting from willful misconduct or negligence during the installation process.
- Base Rate: Compensation for the completed services is established as either an hourly rate of $300 or a flat project fee of $1,800.
- Standby Rate: If a site is not ready for installation upon arrival, a grace period of up to 2 hours is provided; subsequent wait time is billed at a standby rate of $300 per hour.
- Return Trip & Rescheduling Fees: A Return Trip Fee of $750 is authorized to cover mobilization and lost work if the site is fundamentally unready (e.g., physical obstructions or incorrect electrical wiring) and the contractor must depart. A Late Rescheduling Fee of $500 applies if the client alters the schedule less than 7 days before the installation date.
- Contractor Status: As a 1099 worker, the contractor is solely responsible for paying applicable taxes and out-of-pocket expenses. The contractor is not entitled to paid leave, health insurance, workers' compensation, or other typical employee benefits.
