Position Summary
The QA Technician reports to the Quality Manager and performs daily monitoring and verification of food safety and quality parameters in food processing. The role works closely with internal teams to ensure food safety and quality targets are met, assists with raw material release, record keeping, non‑conformance, corrective action, root‑cause analysis, customer complaints, and various tasks related to the Quality Management System.
Exposure to varying temperature conditions occurs daily in the production area (+/- 70%) and in the office (+/- 30%). The schedule for this role is 10 pm to 6:30 am; availability during this shift is required.
- Monitor quality targets, food safety protocols, production, warehousing, maintenance processes and GMPs to ensure compliance to established standards and report non‑compliances to the Quality Manager.
- Responsible for in‑process quality control activities and review of inspection records.
- Inspect, evaluate and release incoming raw materials in the company’s ERP system.
- Perform daily start‑up tasks such as scale verification, issuance of production paperwork, sanitation verification, and label control.
- Ensure sampling protocols are adhered to and administer internal and external material and product testing.
- Perform environmental monitoring and utilities sampling.
- Responsible for data entry and assistance with evaluation of results for product testing, environmental monitoring, utility monitoring and initiation of corrective actions as needed.
- Perform calibration of measurement instrumentation.
- Assist with Quality Hold procedures and control of non‑conforming materials.
- Assist in finished product release.
- Liaise with other departments to ensure that food safety and quality targets are met; assist other departments as needed.
- Contribute to the continual improvement of food safety and quality protocols.
- Deputy for other Quality Assurance Technicians.
- Use relevant software to enter data, compile reports and update documentation as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
- BSc in Food Technology, Food Science or relevant education and/or training.
- Strong knowledge of Food Safety, HACCP and Quality Management Systems.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Quality Assurance, Quality Control or equivalent position within a related industry.
- GFSI experience considered an asset.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office suite required (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to engage with all levels of the organization.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail and meticulous.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic work environment.
- Adaptable, resourceful and a willingness to learn.
- This role requires both day and afternoon shifts, depending on business needs.
- Overtime hours, statutory holidays and weekend work will be required.
- This is an on‑site position with a combination of on‑the‑floor (90%) and office work (10%).
- The position will be in areas with varying temperatures, noise levels and exposure to common food allergens; PPE will be required.
- Lifting may be required from time to time (+/- 20 lbs).

Compensation range for this position in Stanwood, Washington: $24 to $27 per hour. The compensation depends on qualifications and experience.
