Position: Munitions Inspector.
Location: Joint Base Lewis McChord

  • Perform a variety of routine and special inspections of conventional, improved conventional and non-standard ammunition.
  • Assist quality assurance specialist during Quantity Distance Surveys and Standard Operating Procedures preparation and in maintaining a variety of publications, regulations, and files pertaining to work of the unit.
  • Perform periodic storage and special inspections to determine quality, safety, and condition of a wide variety of ammunition, sub-components, and materials used in the maintenance, modification, and manufacture of ammunition items.
  • Perform quality monitoring of maintenance operations, area inspections, and magazine storage inspections.
  • Inspect small arms ammunition, artillery and mortar ammunition, rockets, missiles, mines, grenades, bulk high explosives, propellants/propelling charges, fuses, primers, electo-explosive devices, and experimental and non-standard ammunition.
  • Inspect incoming material from other installations and vendors for damage in transit, safety, serviceability, and compliance with applicable references (mil-standards, drawings, and other publications).
  • Perform verification inspections in conjunction with ammunition maintenance or modification operations.

Requirements

Conditions of employment

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This is a drug testing designated position (TDP) subject to pre-employment drug test and random drug testing in accordance with Army Regulation 600-85.
  • This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban also commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.

  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.

  • This position requires you to be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance of access for the duration of employment which includes a background investigation and credit check.
