PositionCashier – Part‑time, Non‑exempt – Wellpinit Trading Post, Wellpinit, WA 99040
SummaryWe are seeking an enthusiastic retail associate to join our dynamic team! As a retail associate, you will facilitate the checkout process at the Wellpinit Trading Post. You will provide excellent customer service while operating the register, accept payments, deliver receipts, bag groceries and assist customers with merchandise; in addition, maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide excellent customer service to all patrons via Spokane Tribal Enterprises (STE) policies and procedures.
- Conduct sales transactions quickly and accurately.
- Operate a cash register by scanning all merchandise UPCs and displaying retail pricing.
- Enter all transactions into the cash register, accept payment, and account for all funds.
- Review and check customer credit cards and identification, strictly following policies and procedures; obtain electronic authorization for all charges.
- Issue sale receipts to all customers and count back the correct change for cash‑paying customers.
- Perform duties listed on Trading Post cleaning and daily task lists; stock and merchandise as instructed by management.
- Document unit inventory counts of tobacco products and cash register counts at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Work with customers to identify needs and resolve any complaints and problems.
- Take measures to preserve the safety of employees and all others in the work location; wear required safety equipment.
- Verify the age of customers purchasing alcohol or tobacco products and enter the customer’s date of birth into the cash register.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Punctuality and consistency in time and attendance.
- Must work flexible shifts (all days of the week) and hours, holidays, and special events.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and organizational skills; ability to deal effectively with people in a multifaceted work environment.
- Maintain composure and professionalism during stressful situations and conditions.
- Abide by all safety guidelines and familiarize with and follow all Tribal, Federal, and applicable Washington State laws pertaining to convenience store operations.
- Food Handler’s Permit is highly desirable.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Supervisory control:
None (support only).
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to safely lift up to 50 lbs.
- Follow policy and procedures in emergency situations (e.g., theft, robbery, power outages, network and equipment failures).
- Ability to work in a confined area.
Pay rate $17.25 per hour, part‑time, non‑exempt. Professional development opportunities are available contingent upon funding and approval.
