Responsibilities
- Conduct physical security site‑surveys to identify technical security equipment required for the protection of US Army assets.
- Prepare evaluation reports substantiating findings and recommendations for corrective action after inspections are completed.
- Conduct technical comprehensive physical security inspections and surveys of mission essential, vulnerable, and critical areas, activities, and facilities.
- Recommend security measures for the physical security upgrade of facilities, organizations, and activities on the installation.
- Recommend the development of plans, policies, and procedures for safeguarding government property and material.
- Perform extensive site‑surveys, studies, and analysis of installation physical security requirements.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position is subject to the completion of a pre‑employment Physical Examination and may require an annual physical or medical surveillance exam.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state driver’s license in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 20% of the time.
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain the following core Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification:
Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment. - Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain the physical security course (7H‑3aD/830‑ASI H‑3) conducted by the US Army Military Police School (USAMPS).
- This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties. The work requires regular and recurring physical exertion, such as extensive walking, bending, stooping, reaching, crawling, etc.
- Specialized experience:
- Assisting with the development or implementation of security policies;
- Inspecting facilities to determine physical security requirements;
- Researching security regulations;
- Analyzing information relating to designated security requirements.
- Education: Master’s or equivalent graduate degree or two full years of progressively higher‑level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field demonstrating the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the position, such as physical security.
- Combination of education and experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18.
Add the two percentages. - Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS‑07).
- Foreign education: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
