Job Summary

Assist Electrical Journeyman to Install, Maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures. Ensure work is in accordance with relevant codes. Work under the direction of a Lead Craftsman or Foreman.

Job Functions
  • Actively support the Company's commitment to safety and its "Core Values."

  • Assist Electrical Journeyman in assembling, installing, testing, and maintaining electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures using hand tools and power tools.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
  • Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
  • Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures based on job specifications and local codes.
  • Maintain current electrician's license to meet governmental regulations.
  • Work well with supervision.
  • Identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards.
  • Perform all other job-related duties as requested by Journeyman and supervision.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience
  • Apprentices will participate in the apprenticeship program for up to four (4) years.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of electrical, industrial or refinery maintenance experience.
  • Knowledge of industry hand and power tools.
  • Complete the Matrix Service Safety training and Client/Site specific training.
  • Must obtain and maintain active status within the drug testing program.
Physical Requirements
  • Employees will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting and lifting.
  • Will talk and hear to communicate.
  • Must have good dexterity with hands and fingers to perform the precision adjustments of machinery parts and controls.
  • Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, pull objects, materials, controls and tools.
  • May be required to lift, carry and move up to 50lbs.
  • Will occasionally work at heights, climb ladders and stairways and work from platforms. Will work at heights up to 300' utilizing proper fall protection.
  • Will use vision abilities to focus, see short and long distances, colors, depth perception and peripheral vision.
  • Must be capable of working outside in the elements including but not limited to the heat, cold, rain, snow and wind; and must be able to work for long periods of time up to 12 hours a day.
  • Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and steel-toe boots.
Pay

Hiring range: $27.00 to $45.00 per hour.
