We are fortunate to have a long-term drill & blast contract at Castle Hill Mining Operations, on Marlinyu Ghoorlie (Karlamaya Kapurn) country, about 40 minutes from Coolgardie and 60 minutes from Kalgoorlie.
With Indigenous support partners, we are inviting applications for Drill & Blast Trainees from local mob that:
- Have completed a successful year of study in a certificate course via TAFE, Future Pathways or similar
- Identify with the opportunity to work on country, as Marlinyu Ghoorlie and other local knowledge holders
- Are over 18 years old
- Have an active C class manual drivers licence, not on Probationary status
Reporting to the Drill and Blast Supervisor, you will:
- Learn to prepare the blast via handling, storage and transport of explosives, operate support equipment such as IT Loaders, operate Blast Hole Drill Rigs – all in an open cut mining gold operation.
- Ensure work documentation (mostly via I-pad and mobile app) is completed.
- Learn to operate a range of other equipment and vehicles.
- Undertake a dedicated training program for Certificate III Surface Extraction Operations.
- Work well with others, displaying a positive and friendly attitude, ask questions, listen to feedback and be respectful.
- Trainee Drill & Blast level rate of pay at $46.31 per hour on a 14 days on / 7 days off roster; commencing dayshift only (night shift once competent).
- Dedicated trainers and mentors, plus support to complete a Certificate III in Surface Extraction Operations.
- Assistance in the mobilisation, document and induction process via sessions in Kalgoorlie.
- Free charter bus travel from Kalgoorlie to site.
