Diesel Mechanic, Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Location: Frederickson
Pierce County Refuse Lemay is seeking a reliable, safety-focused Diesel Mechanic in Frederickson, WA, to support our heavy-duty truck and trailer maintenance teams. This position offers a competitive hourly rate, CDL premium, and a swing shift differential.

Compensation & Benefits- Hourly Rate: $37.00–$41.00/hour (DOE)
- CDL Premium:
Additional $1.00/hour for Class A or B CDL holders - Shift Differential: +$1.50/hour for swing shift

- Shift: Monday – Friday, 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM
- Overtime:
Average 8–10 hours/week; paid at 1.5× - Swing shift with differential applied
- Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance and repairs on diesel trucks and trailers
- Diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems
- Use diagnostic tools and software (Cummins Insite, Davie‑4, Allison DOC)
- Perform DOT and OSHA‑compliant safety inspections
- Execute MIG welding and basic fabrication tasks
- Test drive vehicles to confirm repair quality and performance
- Record repairs, parts, and hours using fleet maintenance software
- Review and address Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs)
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop environment
- Communicate clearly with drivers, supervisors, and team members
- Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) safety procedures
- Minimum of 3 years of heavy truck/diesel mechanic experience
- Experience with diagnostics and repair of heavy-duty equipment
- Valid Driver’s License (Class B CDL preferred or ability to obtain within 90 days)
- Welding experience (MIG) preferred
- Strong understanding of DOT, OSHA, and vehicle safety standards
- Ability to read and apply technical documentation
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Must have own basic tool set
