Aircraft Mechanic II – Sheet Metal

This position will work from the Fairchild AFB outside of Spokane, WA. S&K offers great benefits and competitive wages. The Aircraft Mechanic II – Sheet Metal performs KC-135 aircraft maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, modification, and documentation in support of organizational/intermediate/depot-level maintenance requirements at Fairchild AFB, WA with potential TDY support to other KC-135 locations as directed. The position specializes in sheet metal, aircraft structures, structural repair, corrosion-related maintenance, and related aircraft maintenance tasks.

Perform KC-135 aircraft structural maintenance, sheet metal repair, inspection, troubleshooting, modification, and documentation. Inspect, repair, replace, and modify aircraft structures and structural components using approved technical data. Perform sheet metal layout, drilling, riveting, fastening, trimming, fitting, and related aircraft structural repair tasks. Support corrosion identification, prevention, treatment, and repair activities as assigned. Interpret and apply technical orders, drawings, blueprints, maintenance manuals, work instructions, and other approved technical data.

Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, pre-flight, thru-flight, post-flight, and inspection-related tasks as assigned. Use aircraft maintenance tools, torque wrenches, micrometers, dial indicators, sheet metal brakes, shears, drills, rivet equipment, and other approved equipment as required. Document maintenance actions in approved aircraft forms, records, logs, and Government maintenance systems. Comply with Tool Control, FOD prevention, safety, quality, security, and local operating requirements.

Provide technical guidance or on-the-job training to less experienced mechanics as directed. Support TDY maintenance operations at other KC-135 locations as required.

Experience Minimum of three (3) years of aircraft maintenance experience on military heavy aircraft is required; USAF KC-135 preferred. Aircraft sheet metal, aircraft structural repair, modification, inspection, and corrosion-related experience is required. Experience using aircraft technical orders, drawings, blueprints, and maintenance documentation is required. A&P certification is preferred but not required.

Licenses/ Certification/ Registration Must be a U.S. citizen. Must possess and maintain a current Secret security clearance. Must be able to obtain and maintain base access, Common Access Card, and required Government system access. Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid U.S. passport and any required visas or travel documentation for CONUS/OCONUS TDY travel, as required by the contract or task order.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a flightline driver's license if required. Must obtain all certifications and training required to perform assigned duties.
