Job Summary

The Sate Access to Child Support (SA Navigator will provide direct. domestic violence safety-informed child support and supportive services to victims/survivors of domestic violence. provide training and support to agency staff equipping them to provide domestic violence safety informed child support services, assist with legal clinics, outreach, education programs in the community and participate in agency collaboration with other domestic violence service providers, legal services providers and the courts.

The incumbent is responsible for the oversight or all stages of case management of DV related cases, performs paternity and child support establishment processes. enforcements and modification processes. assures coordination or other staff for efficiency, accuracy and timeliness and functions as liaison to the local CSED agency for cross referencing case information with the state system. Successful candidate shall assess child support cases to determine appropriate actions to be taken and respond to routine inquiries and complai
11ts regarding child support cases.

Major Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary point of contact and support for survivors or domestic violence identified by child support services as needing additional assistance and support to navigate child support/paternity establishment and/or enforcement processes.
  • Lead coordination of case action planning and risk mitigation for survivors with internal staff and external collaborative partners.
  • Interview parties in cases to obtain information to establish paternity, enforce court ordered child support, locate absent parents, and determine financial status.
  • Provide training and support to agency staff to equip them to provide trauma-informed child support services to parents requesting and/or receiving child support, including DV screening and response, supported access to/resolution of good cause case closure requests, expedited child support case processing, coordination and referrals to community-based domestic violence service providers, safety modified correspondence and communications with survivors, and strategies for managing interactions with perpetrators.
  • Assist with outreach clinics and educational events in the community to inform survivors of domestic violence and professional staff working with survivors of safety-informed child support services available, child support and paternity processes and potential family safety risks associated with those processes and additional civil legal relief available to survivors.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Nooksack DV advocacy and legal services organizations, the courts, and other county/state/tribal civil legal resources for survivors or domestic violence.
  • Participate in court and county/tribal task forces, committees, and work groups to maintain relationships with other service providers and expand the reach of the safety-informed child support program services.
  • Engage in continuing education to stay up-to-date on best and new ideas in domestic violence services.
  • Participate in required training and technical assistance and conferences.
  • Monitor assigned cases to ensure that support obligations are being met and that individuals are in compliance with court orders.
  • Provide mediation information to parties if necessary.
  • Research and maintain personal, financial, and legal information regarding children and their custodial and non-custodial parents.
  • Educate clients about dynamics of domestic violence and sexual assault and options/resources available.
  • Engage in community networking activities to both increase access to services for individuals as well as to assist community service providers in understanding the dynamics of abuse.
  • Assist in the development of a cultural/traditional prevention/education DV program including a community assessment regarding domestic violence, sexual assault, and neglect and abuse of tribal victims of all ages.
  • Provide crisis intervention and prevention for victims, and refer clients to resources and other organizations.
  • Work with program team, tribal resources and community members.
  • Complete a volunteer training program of crisis services.
  • Participate in staff meetings, case conferences and other meetings as needed.
Minimum Qualifications

The following qualifications are required for the incumbent to have, in order to be considered for the position.

Required Education, Experience and Training for Position
  • BA degree in Human Services or related field from an accredited College or University with at least two (2) years Human Services professional experience.
  • Or AA degree in Human Services or related field from an accredited College or University combined with at least four (4) years Human Services professional experience.
