Airbus Helicopters, Inc. is seeking an autonomous, forward-thinking Senior UAS Software Engineer to lead the development of the embedded flight software, ground control stations, and simulators powering the next generation of commercial Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS).

Reporting directly to the Chief Engineer
, you will own the software lifecycle, architect new features, and drive engineering excellence across our development workflow. If you have 10+ years of experience

The Airbus Helicopters Flexrotor Program offers a sophisticated small tactical unmanned aerial system (STUAS) with VTOL capabilities for ISTAR applications on land and at sea.

• Conceptualize and design new software features.
• Gather requirements and design software models for required features.
• Develop clean, maintainable, reusable, well-annotated code.
• Thoroughly test software in standalone and hardware-in-the-loop simulation.
• Continually improve existing software, troubleshoot and debug complex technical issues.
• Identify and track risks, issues, and opportunities for improvement in software and system design.
• Support the creation of and/or write user manuals for software use.
• Document engineering concepts, design, test results, and analysis in technical reports.
• Support flight testing as required.
• Maintain current knowledge of software engineering best practices, architecture, languages, and tools.
• Implement best practices in work and recommend improvements to current practices.
• Transfer knowledge of system and software design to peers.

• Bachelor’s of Science degree in an engineering field, or equivalent technical degree and experience
• 10 years of experience in software development, design, and engineering (C++, C#)
• Demonstrated expertise in understanding and documenting advanced technical, engineering, and scientific concepts
• Proven experience writing clean, maintainable, reusable code using engineering standard methodologies
• Knowledge of software tools including Microsoft Office, Git, DITA, XML, and Jira
• Authorized to work in the US without current or future need for visa sponsorship

• Onsite: 100% onsite in Bingen, Washington or Grand Prairie, Texas
• Vision, hearing, speaking, and general mobility requirements as described for regular office and shop environments
• Appropriate PPE (steel-toed shoes, hearing/eye protection as required on shop floors)

Salary Range: $147,000 - $185,000/year. Actual minimum and maximum may vary based on geographic differential. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, prescription insurance; 401(k); paid time off, holidays, and parental leave; life, disability, and other coverage; and additional programs. Specific offerings are subject to plan year and change without notice.
