Bus/Van Drivers (2) - Senior Services - White Salmon, WA

Full-Time, 35 hours a week, Non-Exempt, Grade 34, Step 1-3, $19.56-$20.78/hr.

Position subject to pre‑employment and random drug testing. First review 11/14/2025, open until filled.

We are seeking drivers for a new public fixed route bus service that operates from 7 am to 7 pm Monday through Friday. Candidates must have a current driver’s license, a clean driving record, and pass a criminal record check.

Job Responsibilities
  • Operate a passenger van and bus in a safe, comfortable, legal and timely manner; transport passengers to medical appointments, shopping, recreational trips, banks, and other destinations while ensuring vehicle safety rules are followed.
  • May operate a fixed route bus service from 7 am to 7 pm, Monday through Friday.
  • Pick up passengers at locations indicated by the Transportation Coordinator and work with the coordinator to devise efficient routes and schedules to provide cost‑effective services.
  • Provide assistance to passengers embarking or disembarking the van, operate a wheelchair lift, help with grocery loads, and refer passengers who need additional assistance to appropriate agency staff.
  • Collect donations from passengers and maintain confidentiality of donations per program requirements and agency policies.
  • Comply with agency procedures and perform regular van maintenance activities, including pre‑trip safety inspections, checking and filling fuel and oil, cleaning inside and outside of the van, and reporting needed servicing and repairs.
  • Maintain all required vehicle records including time charts, fuel usage, mileage counts, and van service records.
  • Pick up and deliver items such as oxygen tanks or packages as required.
  • Maintain a polite and cheerful demeanor while transporting passengers.
  • Refer to the Information and Assistance Coordinator any non‑transportation difficulties reported or exhibited by a senior citizen.
  • Attend required training sessions.
  • Perform other related duties as needed.
  • Qualifications and Requirements
    • Knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques related to the basic function of this position, including safety and legal requirements.
    • Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the applicant with the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform this job. Typical entry includes a high school diploma or GED and experience operating commercial vehicles.
    Core Competencies
  • Valid state or commercial driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to drive in a variety of weather conditions and in both rural and urban environments.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Designated as safety sensitive, requiring random drug and alcohol testing.
