About this positionThis job includes a $250 bonus after 6 months and $1,000 bonus after 12 months of employment. Sunshine Disposal & Recycling is hiring a full‑time Refuse Service Truck Driver in the Addy, WA business unit. Job duties include operating front‑load and side‑load refuse collection trucks and roll‑off dump trucks at residential and commercial locations.
The position is full‑time, day shift Monday–Friday from 4:00 am to 12:30 pm. Seasonal overtime may be available but is not guaranteed. Starting wage is $26.68 per hour, with increases of $0.50 per hour at 6, 12, and 18 months of employment, and an annual COLA beginning in 2027. Fleet and TechnologyThe company operates a modern fleet equipped with driver‑friendly onboard tablets, GPS, and vehicle cameras (both outward and cab‑facing).
Responsibilities- Arrive to work on time, receive paperwork and tablet data for the daily route, and perform a pre‑trip inspection to ensure the truck is operating correctly and requires no maintenance.
- Drive the truck on a fixed route on a weekly basis, collecting refuse, recycling, or organics debris from carts, cans, and/or containers using the hydraulic equipment. Load any extra bags, boxes, or cans into the carts to dispose of them. Document all extras, not‑outs, and damaged carts using the tablet or paper.
- Communicate effectively throughout the day with the office and other drivers about route information and customer communication.
- Dumps the truck at the end of the day and cleans out the truck body and cab.
- Conduct a post‑trip inspection each day and notify the mechanic of any maintenance needs.
- Attend all necessary meetings at Sunshine Disposal as required.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Class A or B CDL with Air Brake Endorsement; licensed for manual and automatic transmissions; USDOT medical certificate; must meet insurance carrier requirements for driving record; subject to USDOT/FMCSA drug and alcohol testing rules.
Physical Abilities- Regularly sit, stand, see, hear, walk, reach, grasp, fine‑finger manipulation, wrist flexion, and operate foot and hand controls (5+ hours per day).
- Frequently climb, bend, pull/push up to 60 pounds (3–4 hours per day).
- Occasionally lift up to 60 pounds, crawl, stoop/crouch, and twist (1–2 hours per day).
- Clearly see 20+ feet, with or without corrective lenses, and differentiate between colors.
- Dash/driver cameras and onboard GPS.
- Tablet technology is used on route and provided for each driver each day.
- Use of cellular phones and personal electronic devices while driving is prohibited.
- No smoking or vaping is allowed in vehicles.
$26.68 per hour.
