Description

This job has a $250 bonus after 6 months of employment and $1,000 after 12 months of employment. Sunshine Disposal & Recycling has an opening for a full‑time Refuse Service Truck Driver in our Addy, WA business unit.

Job duties include operation of front‑load and side‑load refuse collection trucks and roll‑off style dump trucks at residential and commercial locations. Basic computer literacy is required, and OJT is provided for industry‑specific programs. A Class A or B CDL, Air Brake Certificate, and a valid DOT medical card are required. Applicants must meet insurability requirements and comply with US DOT drug screening rules.

Two (2) years of CDL Class A or B driving experience is required.

This is a full‑time, day‑shift job Monday‑Friday with a shift time of 4:00 am–12:30 pm. Seasonal overtime may be available, but it is not guaranteed. Starting wage is $26.68 per hour, with an additional fifty cents ($0.50) per hour wage increase at 6, 12, and 18 months of employment, as well as an annual COLA beginning in 2027. Sunshine Disposal & Recycling operates a modern fleet of vehicles equipped with driver‑friendly onboard computers (tablet style), GPS technology, and the latest vehicle camera technology—both outward‑facing and cab‑facing.

Essential Duties / Responsibilities
  • Arrives to work on time and receives paperwork and tablet data for the daily route. Performs a pre‑trip inspection of the truck to verify proper operation and maintain readiness. Leaves the facility once the truck is operational and commences route services.
  • Drives the truck on a fixed route on a weekly basis, collecting refuse, recycling, or organics debris from carts, cans, and/or containers using the hydraulic equipment on the truck. Loads by lifting extra bags, boxes, or cans into carts for disposal. Documents extras, non‑outs, and damaged carts using the tablet and/or paper as required.
  • Communicates effectively throughout the day with the office and other drivers regarding route information and customer communication.
  • Dumps the truck at the end of the day and cleans the truck body and cab.
  • Conducts a post‑trip inspection each day and informs the mechanic of any maintenance needs.
  • Attends all necessary meetings at Sunshine Disposal as required.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
  • Requirements
  • Class A or B CDL with Air Brake Endorsement.
  • Must be licensed for both manual and automatic transmissions.
  • USDOT medical certificate (med card).
  • Must meet insurance carrier requirements for driving record.
  • Subject to USDOT/FMCSA drug and alcohol testing rules.
  • Physical Abilities
    • Regularly (5+ hours per day) sit, stand, see, hear, walk, reach, grasp, fine‑finger manipulation, wrist flexion, and operate foot and hand controls.
    • Frequently (3-4 hours per day) climb, bend, pull/push (up to 60 pounds).
    • Occasionally (1-2 hours per day) lift (up to 60 pounds), crawl, stoop/crouch, twist.
    • Clearly see 20 + feet, with or without corrective lenses, and differentiate between colors.
    Safety Matters
    • Dash/driver cameras in vehicles and on‑board GPS.
    • Tablet technology is used on the route and is provided to each driver daily.
    • Use of cellular phones and personal electronic devices while driving is prohibited.
    • No smoking or vaping is allowed in vehicles.
