Position Summary

The Logistics Coordinator has general responsibility for coordinating and overseeing all operational activities assigned to them on a daily basis. Under the direction of the Operations Supervisor, the Logistics Coordinator is responsible for the oversight of associates dedicated to warehousing, receiving, and shipping of product in their area, in a manner consistent with company service and cost objectives. Associates are expected to meet company objectives in performance, safety, and quality and to comply with all corporate and site‑specific policies.

Responsibilities

Training Responsibilities:
  • Mentor and train new and existing associates in specific distribution activities to help achieve established customer demands
  • Train associates on current Standard Operating Procedures, including shipping, receiving, picking, and quality control
  • Assist with forklift operation and certification for associates
Shipping / Receiving Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and coordinate unloading of inbound shipments, orderly stacking of product, and the picking and staging of outbound shipments according to the highest productivity standards; verify required paperwork with drivers to ensure proper counting
  • Efficiently and accurately load orders onto appropriate doors and trailers
  • Process all shipping/receiving/picking functions as defined by the Standard Operating Procedures
  • Investigate discrepancies that may arise in the shipping and receiving process
Customer Service:
  • Maintain a professional appearance and conduct in all communications
  • Communicate with customers telephonically, electronically, or in person as required
  • Prepare activity reports accurately and efficiently for site management
Quality Control Responsibilities:
  • Use appropriate documentation to ensure products are received, shipped, and picked correctly
  • Verify quality standards, report damages or discrepancies, and manage packaging, shrink‑wrapping, and labeling
  • Process all quality control functions according to Standard Operating Procedures
  • Report inconsistencies or problems to the Operations Supervisor or Manager and participate in quality meetings
Safety, Housekeeping, and Compliance:
  • Apply ISO standards, safety protocols, and OSHA/MSDS standards relevant to the position
  • Promote a safe, clean, neat, and orderly work area and assist with security of the warehouse
  • Attend safety meetings
Labor Management:
  • Lead warehouse work team to achieve objectives
  • Assist associates and temporary labor with productivity sheets and payroll capture
  • Collaborate with Supervisor to maintain a productive workforce and establish work schedules
  • Ensure jobs are assigned and completed correctly
Responsibility and Authority:
  • Participate in department meetings
  • Identify and prevent non‑conformities, record issues, and recommend solutions through designated channels
  • Bring all non‑conformities to the Quality Department immediately
Equipment Operation:
  • Operate sit‑down, stand‑up, reach truck, sweeper, scrubber, scissor lift, cherry picker, Aisle Master, or pallet jack, as required
  • Maintain equipment; inspect and perform minor maintenance on forklifts and other equipment daily
  • Operate equipment safely and efficiently following prescribed methods
  • Maintain an active forklift certification
Maintenance:
  • Assist with building, grounds, and equipment maintenance as assigned
Other Duties:
  • Perform clerical and administrative tasks as directed by site management (e.g., answering phones, scheduling, filing)
  • Work evenings and weekends as needed; work overtime when required by business
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Minimum

Required Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum one year of experience in logistics, distribution, or a related environment
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment (MHE)
  • Work in temperatures ranging from mild to moderate without regulation
Certificates and Licenses
  • Completion of a forklift training program
