Job Overview

As a Class A CDL Driver for UNFI, you will support the Ridgefield Distribution Center by delivering palletized products to corporate and independent retail stores. Your responsibilities include performing pre‑ and post‑trip inspections, ensuring safe and effective loading and handling, delivering and unloading products, reviewing paperwork for completeness and accuracy, checking orders for the correct number of boxes, correcting addresses and support documentation, completing time cards, entering trip data into the onboard computer, and completing paper logs if necessary.

• Deliver and unload products using equipment such as tractor‑trailer, ramps, lift gates, pallet jacks, load bars, and other devices that assist delivery.
• Operate the vehicle safely within UNFI guidelines, minimizing accidents, traffic violations, and complaints from the public.
• Report any accident immediately to the Transportation Manager/Department.
• Maintain vehicles safely and securely, reporting defects promptly using the DCVR form.
• Pick up supplies and backhauls from vendors, completing related paperwork.
• Address and resolve customer problems as appropriate.
• Ensure customer orders arrive in quality condition and correspond precisely to the initial order.

• Ability to pass a road test.

• Prefer minimum of one year verified experience operating a tractor trailer.
• Must be 21 years of age.
• Basic knowledge of Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). and mandates.
• Understanding of UNFI's safety standards.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Solid understanding of shipping and receiving functions.
• Good time management skills.
• Good judgment, especially when direct supervision is not immediately available.
