Position Begins: 8/24/2026
Salary: $66,137–$124,653 (based on 2025-26 salary schedule, placement based on experience)
5 days per week, 184 days/180 student attendance per District calendar

OSPI/WA State Teaching Certificate with K‑12 Special Education endorsement or multiple subject areas

Essential Functions
  • Teach to district approved course goals and objectives.
  • Select teaching strategies for implementing IEP goals and objectives for assigned students with developmentally delayed disabilities.
  • Make instructional decisions. Monitor and adjust teaching strategies to the students changing needs.
  • Coordinate specialized instruction with general education curriculum as appropriate.
  • Establish classroom behavior management programs for students. Utilizing pro-social skill/intrinsic model and a behavioral accountability system in conjunction with the team coordinator.
  • Instruct students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified by state law and administrative regulations of the school district.
  • Train, supervise, and teach staff assistants, specialized personal assistants, and volunteers.
  • Provide individual and group instruction so that each student can achieve scholastic educational objectives.
  • Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
  • Keep up‑to‑date and apply current special education practices/theories.
  • Participate cooperatively with the appropriate administrator in the evaluation process in conformance with the approved district guidelines.
  • Develop and use instructional materials suitable for the instruction of students with wide ranges of mental, physical, and emotional maturation.
  • Establish, monitor, and adjust behavior management for individual needs. Establish and maintain standard of student behavior needed to achieve effective participation in all activities.
  • Work effectively with multidisciplinary team and other professionals (OT, PT) regarding needs of special students for assuring appropriate learning experiences.
  • Evaluate intellectual and social growth of students and keep appropriate records.
  • Communicate with parents. Hold parent conferences to discuss the individual student's progress.
  • Maintain records and submit reports as required or appropriate.
  • Participate in curricular and other developmental programs as required.
  • Supervise students in out‑of‑classroom activities during the assigned periods.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Assists other personnel for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
Other Functions
  • Serves on staff committees as needed.
  • Performs related tasks consistent with the scope and responsibility of the position.
Qualifications
  • Must qualify for a valid Washington State teaching certificate with appropriate endorsements as required by law.
