Para educator Position at Canyon Creek Middle School
Canyon Creek Middle School is seeking a Para educator to assist a certificated teacher in the supervision and instruction of individual and/or small groups of students; and providing instructional and clerical support to teacher/s and staff.
This job reports to Building Administrator.
The job of Para educator is done for the purpose of assisting a certificated teacher in the supervision and instruction of individual and/or small groups of students; and providing instructional and clerical support to teacher/s and staff.
Essential duties include administering assessments, assisting special education students, helping students with lesson assignments, attending meetings, conferring with teachers, implementing instructional programs, instructing students, maintaining classroom equipment, modifying classroom work, monitoring students, performing record keeping and clerical functions, promoting good habits, recording observations, and responding to inquiries from staff.
Other duties may include assisting other personnel as required.
Skills, knowledge, and abilities required include operating standard office equipment, preparing and maintaining accurate records, performing algebra and/or geometry, reading manuals, writing documents, understanding complex instructions, concepts of grammar and punctuation, direct instruction/reading instruction, stages of child development and learning styles, age appropriate activities, scheduling activities, collating data, using basic equipment, working with diverse groups, maintaining confidentiality, setting priorities, working as part of a team, and working with constant interruptions.
Responsibilities include working under direct supervision, providing information and/or advising others, and operating within a defined budget and/or financial guidelines.
The job requires some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling; frequent stopping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. The job is performed under some hazardous conditions.
Job related experience is desired. High School diploma with 2.5 GPA is required. Valid First Aid Certificate and a 5-year cleaning driving history are required. Additional training may be needed.
