PositionPlant/Process Engineer – Pulp & Paper Segment (Washougal, WA)
Responsibilities- Improving chemical production and utility processes.
- Collaborating with production staff to improve safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Leading process safety activities, including management of change, process hazard analysis, pre‑startup reviews, and root cause analysis and corrective actions for process incidents.
- Training personnel on new or changed processes.
- Providing technical and process safety support for new or experimental product trials.
- Developing and updating operating procedures, P&IDs, and engineering records.
- Supporting or leading capital projects.
- Assisting with creation of SOPs for new and existing equipment and processes as needed.
- Developing competency to fill in for team members as needs arise.
- Chemical or Mechanical engineering degree.
- 3+ years of experience with chemical manufacturing involving batch reactions.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills (English).
- Demonstrated track record of self‑motivation and skills growth.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously within tight time frames.
- Strong interactive skills with all levels of plant organization.
- Willingness to travel when required.
- Demonstrated process engineering and project support skillset, including process troubleshooting, process hazard analysis leadership, equipment startup & commissioning, automation & controls knowledge, contractor management, and equipment ordering.

The starting salary range for consideration for this position is $110,000 to $120,000 per year with opportunities for performance-based bonuses. The actual starting salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to relevant employment history & experience, skill set/competencies, qualifications, and other business and organizational needs. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package which includes health insurance, paid time off, life/disability insurance and a 401(k) retirement plan (which includes a company match).
