Yarn Operator

Regular position located in Washougal, WA, US. Salary Range: $22.22 - $24.07 per hour.

Position Overview

Oversees spinning processes to ensure high‑quality output, maintain safety, and meet performance goals.

Job Responsibilities
  • Monitor spinning frames to ensure the yarn is moving smoothly and not breaking.
  • Repair loose ends when yarn breaks.
  • Unload and transport spools of roving, bobbins of yarn, and loose yarn to designated areas as needed.
  • Maintain a clean work area and clean equipment.
  • Seek opportunities to improve safety and quality in all manufacturing processes.
  • Cross‑train in various sections of yarn production to adapt efficiently to changing needs.
Skill and Qualifications
  • Follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
  • Work both independently and in teams.
  • Seek opportunities to improve personal understanding and capabilities.
  • Willingness to cross‑train in other areas of yarn manufacturing to meet changing business needs.
Physical Requirements
  • Stand, walk, twist, and crouch as needed during the entire shift (breaks and meals excluded).
  • Lift up to 10 pounds frequently and 25 pounds occasionally; employees are never expected to lift loads if unsafe or too risky.
  • Push and pull wheeled carts containing products weighing up to 200 pounds over short distances.
  • Move bales of wool using a hand truck up to 450 pounds.
Experience and Education
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Two or more years of production experience preferred.
  • Any combination of education and experience demonstrating the ability to perform the job is acceptable.
Work Environment
  • Humid work environment.
  • Exposure to wool fibers and dust.
  • Loud work environment – hearing protection required in all areas of yarn manufacturing.
  • Non‑slip shoes required; reimbursement programs available.
