POSITION SUMMARYMaintenance 1 performs advanced maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of production equipment and facility systems. This position works independently, supports Mill operations, and may provide technical guidance to Maintenance 2 and Maintenance 3 employees.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and test industrial machinery, production equipment, and facility systems.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, steam, and fluid-pumping system issues and determine appropriate repairs.
- Perform preventive maintenance on production and facility equipment and systems.
- Operate and maintain boilers; lead annual boiler preventive maintenance as assigned.
- Support WWTP, HVAC, and evaporative cooler operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
- Read blueprints, technical drawings, layouts, and specifications; use precision measuring instruments and identify required mechanical components.
- Use maintenance tools and equipment for cutting, threading, bending, drilling, grinding, welding-related work, and other repair activities.
- Perform rigging and safely operate overhead cranes, forklifts, scissor lifts, and other required mobile equipment.
- Follow lockout/tagout, PPE, machine safety, and all other applicable safety procedures.
- Maintain required QMS, maintenance, work-instruction, and training documentation.
- Maintain clean and orderly work areas, tools, and equipment and support continuous improvement of safety, reliability, and efficiency.
- Provide technical guidance and training to Maintenance 2 and Maintenance 3 employees and coordinate their work as assigned.
- Coordinate contractors performing maintenance, repair, installation, and facility work.
- Respond to emergency breakdowns and be available for overtime and call-in work, including off-shifts and weekends as necessary.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS (The training, education and/or experience necessary to fulfill the job)Minimum seven (7) years of hands‑on mechanical maintenance and repair experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or comparable environment.
- Advanced mechanical aptitude and ability to independently troubleshoot, maintain, repair, and install industrial machinery and equipment.
- Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, steam, fluid‑pumping, heat‑transfer, welding, and rigging principles.
- Boiler, wastewater treatment, HVAC, and evaporative cooling experience is desirable.
- Ability to read blueprints and technical documentation and safely use required tools, measuring instruments, forklifts, lifts, cranes, and maintenance equipment.
- Ability to perform basic math and read, write, understand, and follow instructions in English.
- Ability to train and provide technical guidance to other Maintenance employees.
- High School Diploma or GED required;
Associate degree in Mechanical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or related field preferred. Equivalent education, training, and experience may be considered.
