Role Description The Travel Superintendent is a full-time, on-site role based on location of project with responsibility for overseeing concrete construction projects from start to finish. This role manages daily field operations, including supervising crews, coordinating subcontractors, and ensuring work aligns with project plans, specifications, and safety standards. The superintendent monitors schedules, tracks progress, and reports on job status, proactively addressing issues that could affect timelines or quality.
Typical tasks include conducting site meetings, inspecting work and materials, verifying layout and installation, and working closely with project managers, engineers, and clients. The position requires regular travel between job sites, maintaining strong communication with stakeholders and supporting a culture of safety and accountability.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience supervising construction or concrete crews and managing field operations on active job sites.
- Strong knowledge of concrete construction methods, site layout, reading blueprints, and interpreting project specifications.
- Proficiency in scheduling, resource planning, and coordinating subcontractors, suppliers, and inspections.
- Commitment to safety practices, including enforcing OSHA standards and company safety policies.
- Effective leadership and communication skills, with the ability to direct teams and collaborate with project managers and clients.
- Ability to travel regularly between job sites and work on-site in varying weather and field conditions.
- Basic proficiency with smartphones, tablets, or project management software for documentation and reporting.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training or construction-related certifications are beneficial.
- Valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets company standards.
- Prior experience as a superintendent, foreperson, or similar construction leadership role is strongly preferred.
