JOB SUMMARY

The Health, Safety, Environmental, and Training (HSET) Safety Specialist III is an advanced-level position responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance and the maintenance of a safe work environment for all personnel, subcontractors, and customers involved in Company operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Prepare and maintain documentation to ensure compliance with federal and state laws, regulations, and Company requirements.
  • Provide regulatory compliance information to HSET personnel, subcontractors, and customers.
  • Provide HSET case management support as required.
  • Prepare and review job safety analyses (JSA) and job hazard analyses (JHA).
  • Perform facility inspections for Company-controlled buildings and facilities.
  • Perform investigations using root cause analysis systems to identify risks and develop solutions.
  • Perform industrial hygiene field monitoring including hot work, unit work, and confined space entry permitting.
  • Generate reports and prepare presentations as required.
  • Maintain basic understanding of Alaska Workers' Compensation Law.
  • Comply with Company and customer policies and procedures.
  • Support AES zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.
  • Other duties will be assigned to this position as needed.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A Bachelor's degree in a safety-related field with two years of safety experience or an Associate's degree with four years of safety experience is required.
  • A valid (U.S issued) Driver's License is required.
  • A North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training certification is required.
  • The ability to work 84 hours a week on a 2x2 or 3x3 rotation is required.
  • At least five (5) years of experience as an HSET Safety Specialist is required.
  • A thorough knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR  and a basic understanding of NFPA, NIOSH, ASME, and ANSI is required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, database management, and photo-editing software is required.
  • A (BCSP) Board of Certified Safety Professionals Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST) or Construction, Health, and Safety Technician (CHST) is required.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • Five (5) or more years of experience working as an HSET Safety Specialist specifically in the Petrochemical or Oil and Gas industry, on the North Slope, and/or in other Arctic environment is preferred.
