An exciting opportunity is available for a Rotating Equipment Engineer to support commissioning, startup, and early operations on a major new oil and gas development. This Rotating Equipment Engineer role offers the chance to work across a central processing facility, seawater treatment plant for injection, and drill site, helping to ensure rotating assets are transitioned into safe, reliable operation. The successful Rotating Equipment Engineer will play a key role in bridging project execution and operational ownership, with strong involvement across engineering, maintenance, HSE, commissioning, and operations teams.

This company is seeking a technically capable professional to support a critical startup phase and help establish sustainable operational performance.

Job Description

The Rotating Equipment Engineer will support commissioning activities, pre‑startup safety reviews, and startup of rotating equipment including pumps, compressors, turbines, and generators. The Rotating Equipment Engineer will be involved in system walkdowns, punch listing, mechanical completion verification, and the review of vendor documentation, test procedures, and commissioning plans to confirm operational readiness.

This Rotating Equipment Engineer role will provide on‑site troubleshooting and technical support during startup and early operations. Responsibilities will include diagnosing issues related to vibration, alignment, lubrication, seals, and equipment performance, while helping to resolve emerging concerns quickly and effectively.

The Rotating Equipment Engineer will also support proper installation practices including alignment, grouting, and coupling setup. In addition, the Rotating Equipment Engineer will contribute to Management of Change processes for equipment or design modifications to maintain integrity and compliance.

A further key aspect of the Rotating Equipment Engineer role will be supporting the development of operating and maintenance procedures for rotating equipment. This will include assisting with preventive and predictive maintenance strategies designed to maximise equipment reliability and long‑term performance.

The Rotating Equipment Engineer will work closely with vendors and subject matter experts to resolve complex technical issues. Strong coordination with operations, maintenance, engineering, and commissioning teams will be essential to align priorities and deliver integrated technical solutions. The Rotating Equipment Engineer will also promote safety and support compliance with site standards and regulatory requirements across all rotating equipment activities.

Key Requirements
  • 8+ years of experience in oil and gas or similar industrial environments
  • Direct experience supporting commissioning and startup of new facilities
  • Strong background in rotating equipment including pumps, compressors, turbines, and generators
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting experience in live operating environments
  • Experience working in remote or field‑based operational environments
  • Familiarity with PSSR, commissioning processes, and startup workflows
  • Experience working with OEMs and vendors during installation and startup
  • Strong understanding of rotating equipment fundamentals and common failure modes
  • Knowledge of alignment techniques, balancing, and installation best practice
  • Understanding of lubrication systems, seal systems, and bearing design fundamentals
  • Ability to interpret equipment performance data and trends
  • Working knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance approaches
