The Alaska Judicial Services Sergeant’s provide first-line supervisory leadership for Court Services Officers, Emergency Services Dispatchers, and administrative personnel within the Judicial Services Unit. These positions ensure the effective coordination and oversight of essential judicial security and support functions.
The Judicial Services Unit is responsible for the secure transport of prisoners; the service of civil and criminal writs; the security and protection of court facilities; and the safeguarding of the Judiciary. The Sergeant’s plays a key role in maintaining orderly court operations and upholding the integrity and safety of Alaska’s judicial environment.

The Kenai Judicial Services Sergeant position is located in Kenai, Alaska, serving at the Kenai Courthouse in the center of the Kenai Peninsula. This location offers a distinctive blend of professional significance and natural beauty, with close proximity to essential government services while surrounded by the renowned landscapes of coastal Alaska. WHATWE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- Previous law enforcement experience as an Alaska State Trooper.
- Demonstrated ability to handle physical and mental stress while tackling lengthy projects and assignments.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities including responsible direction and delegation of tasks as well as abilities in counseling and discipline.
- Strong report writing skills and customer service skills.

Minimum QualificationsThree years of experience as a law enforcement officer certified by the Alaska Police Standards Council or by an equivalent agency in another U.S. jurisdiction outside the State of Alaska that is recognized by the Alaska Police Standards Council, where at least one year of the required experience is as a State Trooper with the State of Alaska, Department of Public Safety.
SpecialNote:
Some positions, as identified by the department, may require specialized training or experience (investigations, vessel operation, or licensed aircraft pilot).
Possession of an "Intermediate Certificate" as a police officer issued by the Alaska Police Standards Council is desirable, but not required.
