Qualifications:
SCF programs are established to serve a primary population comprised of Alaska Native people who are affiliated with Cook Inlet Region, Inc. (CIRI) and Alaska Native and American Indian people within SCF’s geographical service area. Employees should have a thorough understanding of the cultures and the needs of this population. Such knowledge is critical to ensure the achievement of SCF’s vision of a Native Community that enjoys physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellness, and mission of working together with the Native Community to achieve wellness through health and related services:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, rehabilitation, counseling, or related field; OR equivalent years of training and experience.
- Two (2) years of experience working as a Chemical Dependency Counselor in a therapeutic residential, addictions, and/or mental health outpatient setting; OR demonstrated proficiency as a Chemical Dependency Counselor II at SCF.
- Chemical Dependency Counselor Supervisor (CDCS) Certification.
Additional Qualifications for Chemical Dependency Counselor II:
Meets all requirements of Supervisor of Chemical Dependency Counselor I in addition to the following:
- Two (2) years of demonstrated experience at the Supervisor of Chemical Dependency Counselor I level.
OR have the following:
- CDC I or II (CDCS not required).
- Master’s degree in behavioral health field including social work, counseling, psychology or mental health nursing or PhD or PsyD in Clinical or Counseling Psychology.
- Two (2) years of experience working in a therapeutic residential, addictions, and/or mental health outpatient setting; OR demonstrated proficiency as a Chemical Dependency Counselor I level.
Additional Qualifications for Dena A Coy and Four Directions departments:
- Obtain Qualified Addiction Professional (QAP) approval within three (3) years of the Provisional Provider Application approval date with the State of Alaska.
Native Preference:
Under P.L. 93-638, as amended, the company pursues a policy of Native preference in hiring, contracting and training. SCF Human Resources must receive certification before applicants receive preference.
