ULTRASOUND TECHNOLOGIST POSITION SUMMARY The Ultrasound Technologist performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations to assist healthcare providers in the evaluation and treatment of medical conditions. This position is responsible for ensuring patient safety and comfort, obtaining high quality diagnostic images, maintaining accurate documentation, and collaborating effectively with physicians and other healthcare professionals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Prepare patients for ultrasound examinations, explain procedures, answer questions, and ensure patient comfort throughout the exam.

Operate ultrasound equipment safely and effectively to obtain high quality diagnostic images of internal organs, tissues, and structures.

Perform a variety of ultrasound examinations, including abdominal, OB/GYN, vascular, and other studies as appropriate to the position.

Review images for quality and completeness and provide technical information and impressions to physicians as appropriate.

Accurately document examination information, patient records, image logs, and reports within EMR and PACS systems.

Maintain accurate and complete patient documentation in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.

Ensure ultrasound equipment is clean, properly functioning, and maintained according to manufacturer and organizational standards.

Identify equipment issues and report malfunctions or maintenance needs promptly.

Follow infection control procedures, patient safety standards, and confidentiality requirements at all times.

Maintain compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and professional standards.

Participate in continuing education and maintain all required certifications and credentials.

Demonstrate professionalism, compassion, and respect when interacting with patients, providers, coworkers, and other members of the healthcare team.

Perform other duties as assigned to support organizational and business needs.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Minimum

Education Requirements:

Graduate of an accredited radiologic or diagnostic medical sonography program with an Associate's degree or higher. One year certificate from a college or technical school may be considered when combined with applicable education and experience. ARRT registered or ARRT registry eligible is required. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered where appropriate.

Work Experience:

Six months to one year of related experience and/or training preferred.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to perform basic arithmetic, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Ability to calculate rates, ratios, and percentages. Ability to interpret graphs, measurements, and other mathematical information relevant to job responsibilities.

REASONING AND PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLSAbility to apply common sense when following written, verbal, or diagrammed instructions. Ability to identify and resolve problems involving multiple variables in standard situations. Ability to exercise sound judgment and make appropriate decisions within the scope of the position.

COMPUTER SKILLS Proficiency with electronic medical record systems and picture archiving and communication systems. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams. Ability to learn and effectively use other technology and software required to perform job duties.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
