FLSA Status: Full Time/40 hours per week;
Exempt
The length of the contract will be from the date of award, approximately 7/1/2026, through 6/30/2027 with optional renewal periods to be exercised at the sole discretion of the State up to 6/30/2029. Continuation of position is contingent upon the successful renewal of the contract for each period.
Education and
Work Experience:
- An Alaska State CDCI is required.
- Prior administrative, and supervisory experience, skills and abilities.
- Three years of direct clinical experience in the treatment of chemical dependency, substance use disorders, and dual diagnosis/co-occurring disorders.
- Expert in the knowledge of Substance Related and Addictive Disorders and its treatment.
- Must have experience consistent with the requirements for Alaska State Certification Chemical Dependency Counselor II (CDCII), though a Chemical Dependency Clinical Supervisor (CDCS) certificate is preferred.
- Able to obtain Alaska State CDCII Certification within one year from date of hire.
- Must at minimum have an Alaska State CDCI certificate or its equivalent.
- Must be able to pass ADOC background check and PREA screening.
Scope of Position/
Essential Functions:
Under the direction of the SATS Clinical Manager, the SATS Coordinator will maintain a caseload, facilitate groups, conduct staff meetings, and serve as the supervisor for all on site counselors. The SATS Coordinator will conduct training as well as ensuring all counselors are compliant with ADOC SATS contract obligations. The SATS Coordinator will be responsible for managing all on site counselors, submitting reports, and will serve as the primary liaison with ADOC institutional staff.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Expert knowledge of Substance Related and Addictive Disorders and the treatment there of.
- Skilled in the areas of group, individual and family counseling, didactic presentations, case management, treatment planning, discharge planning, crisis prevention/intervention, clinical evaluation, and documentation requirements.
- Ability to conduct training for clinical staff.
- Knowledge of cross-cultural issues and skill in working with diverse population.
- Ability to work with a minimum of supervision.
- Strong organizational, verbal and written skills.
- Detail oriented with a high level of accuracy required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, maintain poise under pressure and successfully communicate with a wide range of personalities.
Essential Functions:
- Maintain caseload, facilitate groups, and conduct staff meetings.
- Conducting orientation with new employees; supervising the performance of SATS Counselors by consistently providing positive feedback to the staff when deserved to encourage competence; providing coaching, counseling and initiating progressive disciplinary actions with staff as needed;
- Developing and conducting training sessions dealing with chemical dependency, substance abuse issues, co-occurring disorders, criminal personalities, and criminal thinking errors.
- Monitoring the delivery of services and coordinating treatment activities ensuring Counselors are following approved curriculum.
- Preparing statistical reports and other required reports completing all quality improvement, critical incident and other reports in a timely manner.
- Maintain a case load of clients, developing treatment plans, conducting groups and ensuring client compliance with assigned curriculum.
- Performing other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or other management as required.
Software-related
Skills:
Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, and ASAM CONTINUUM required; working knowledge of integrated database applications and ability to use new software programs with basic training.
