Role OverviewTeck Alaska Incorporated is hiring a temporary Waste Management Coordinator to support the updating and implementation of RDO’s waste management and recycling programs. The role coordinates with all departments to accomplish outlined goals and reports to the Environmental Team Lead.
Work Schedule:
2 weeks on‑site, 2 weeks off‑site for a period of approximately 24 months.
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures.
- Improve and standardize SAA and CAA compliant management practices.
- Development/improvement of tracking systems for compliant management of:
- Scrap metal
- Used oil and glycol streams
- Scrap vehicles & equipment
- Other solid waste & recyclable streams
- Identify opportunities and implement means to maximize recycling for all waste streams.
- Develop/implement new or update/improve the current waste management system.
- Routine update/reconcile the waste tracking tool to accurately reflect current onsite wastes.
- Develop required RCRA and other waste management training for all departments.
- Plan and execute site‑wide planned episodic cleanup events.
- Develop and implement a centralized, dedicated onsite waste & recycling management facility.
- Develop a comprehensive site‑wide waste management operations plan/blueprint.
- Assist with routine environmental compliance or other tasks as required.
- Three (3) or more years of RCRA LQG hazardous and nonhazardous solid waste management experience at an operating industrial facility (required). Metals mine‑specific experience preferred, experience within Alaska preferred.
- Demonstrated successful experience in compliant management & record‑keeping for:
- SAAs and CAAs
- Hazardous waste manifests
- Waste determinations, waste profiling, and associated requirements
- Ability to assist with other site requirements associated with RCRA Subtitle C compliance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word is required; proficiency in Access is a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Experience developing and implementing industrial waste management tracking systems preferred.
- Required training – current or able to obtain upon hire:
- MSHA Part 48 Surface Mining training
- OSHA 40‑Hour HAZWOPER training
- Comprehensive RCRA training
- DOT and IATA training
- Access: Fly‑in, fly‑out.
- Schedule:
