Role Description
Liquor Clerks stock, straighten, and clean the liquor store; assist customers; check purchaser age; and ring up orders in a liquor store with a separate entrance and gated access.
Required Skills/Abilities- Follow merchandising standards and practices.
- Align products, collect and return stray items, and maintain high product levels.
- Rotate merchandise.
- Check for accurate signage.
- Hang and replace computer-generated product signs.
- Use a box knife to cut boxes for display and remove twine or shrink-wrap from pallets.
- Stock opened cases on shelves.
- Move and position pallets of merchandise using a manual pallet jack.
- Stack product from partial pallets onto full pallets.
- Communicate with supervisors and managers to determine merchandising plans and priorities.
- Write a list of products to be brought from the steel by the forklift driver for stocking.
- Provide prompt and courteous customer service.
- Answer phones, direct customers to products, and assist with product information.
- Check photo identification to verify legal purchase age for anyone buying alcohol or tobacco.
- Ring up orders.
- Receive payment, make change, and process checks, credit, EBT, and debit charges.
- Clean the liquor store by sweeping, mopping, spraying, wiping, and dusting.
- Stock supplies, empty trash, and operate the trash compactor and cardboard baler.
- Operate the cash register, hand-held/tabletop scanners, conveyor belt, carts, flatbeds, trash compactor, and cardboard baler.
- Assist in other departments of the store as necessary.
- Perform other functions as necessary or assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Age and certification as required by local law.
- Customer service skills preferred.
- Training as required by local law.

- Auto raises will be provided based on straight-time hours worked until the top of the pay scale is reached.

Work is performed in a store setting with frequent phone communications. The role requires computer usage, strength, dexterity, coordination, and visual acuity to use a keyboard and video display terminal and other office equipment. The job involves continuously standing, walking, reaching at or below shoulder height, frequently lifting or carrying up to 20 pounds below the waist, up to 50 pounds at the waist or chest, and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
